If Birmingham have been struggling in front of goal, Wolves have not.

Nuno Espirito Santo's table-toppers are the Championship's top scorers with 40, nine of which have come in the last two games, and Leo Bonatini has 11 himself.

Wolves have also won their last five Championship matches by a margin of two or more goals – the last Championship side to win six in a row by this margin of victory were Reading in December 2005 (eight in a row) on their way to winning the division that season.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out why Birmingham have been struggling over the past couple of seasons - you just need to look at the goals for column.

Blues have failed to score more than twice in a league game in their last 52 attempts, scoring just 36 goals in that time.

They've netted only 10 times so far this season - the lowest return in the Championship - with five of those coming from Che Adams.

  3. N'Diaye in for suspended Nevespublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2017

Birmingham City v Wolves (19:45 GMT)

Wolves' only change is an enforced one with Ruben Neves suspended.

And it is Alfred N'Diaye who is preferred over Jack Price to replace the Portuguese midfielder as Nuno Espírito Santo aims to guide his side to a four-point lead at the top of the table.

Wolves: Ruddy; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, N'Diaye, Saiss, Douglas; Cavaleiro, Bonatini, Jota.

Subs: Norris, Miranda, Batth, Price, Vinagre, Costa, Enobakhare

  4. No changes for Bluespublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 4 December 2017

Birmingham City v Wolves (19:45 GMT)

Birmingham City boss Steve Cotterill sticks with the side that got a point at high-flying Sheffield United nine days ago.

The only swaps come on the bench as 21-year-old goalkeeper Connal Davies replaces Tomasz Kuszczak and David Davis coming in for Corey O'Keefe.

Davis is one of two former Wolves midfielders on the Blues bench, alongside Stephen Gleeson.

Birmingham City: Stockdale; Nsue, Roberts, Dean, Morrison, Grounds; Kieftenbeld, Ndoye, Boga; Jota, Jutkiewicz

Subs: Davies, Davis, Maghoma, Cotterill, Gleeson, Adams, Gallagher

Hello and welcome to BBC Sport's live coverage of the big West Midlands derby between Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The clubs may only be 15 miles apart as the crow flies - but in terms of the Championship not much more could be between them.

Leaders Wolves will go four points clear if they can get a victory this evening, having won their last five in succession - City occupy the final relegation place and have taken just four points in their last five games.
