  4. Postpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

'Come on, City, come on' rings out around the ground.

Cardiff need a win to close the gap on leaders Wolves to five points.

They'll go back in to second, as it stands, with a draw... But they could really do with a win.

    Millwall 1-0 QPR

Millwall v QPRImage source, Rex Features

It's not happening for QPR yet. In fact Millwall have looked the more likely to score following Steve Morison's goal, with the hosts keeping up the pressure with some searching balls.

The stats say QPR have had 12 shots on target, but in truth Jordan Archer hasn't made too many difficult saves. There's 10 minutes left to change that. David Wheeler is on for Idrissa Sylla.

  6. Morecambe cut the deficitpublished at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Morecambe 1-2 Yeovil

Vadaine Oliver has pulled a goal back for Morecambe against Yeovil in League Two.

In League One, Doncaster are still 2-0 up against Rochdale and the match between Wigan and Charlton remains goalless.

At the other end, Joe Ralls blasts high and wide for Cardiff from a tight angle.

The game has come alive, after 78 minutes!

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:21 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Action, at last! It's a fine save from Neil Etheridge to palm away Tom Barkhuizen's low effort and then, on the rebound, Bruno Ecuele Manga does superbly to slide in first ahead of Jordan Hugill, who was set to slot in the opening goal.

Two corners follow for Preston, but Cardiff escape them.

  9. SUBSTITUTION (Cardiff)published at 21:19 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Off goes Lee Tomlin. Rhys Healey - back recently from a ligament injury - enters the game.

  10. Postpublished at 21:18 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Bruno Ecuele Manga - who has been superb in the air for Cardiff tonight - clears the danger.

Good energy from substitute Callum Robinson wins Preston back-to-back corners...

  12. Postpublished at 21:17 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Oo er! There's almost a moment to forget for Preston's Chris Maxwell, as he races out of his penalty area to clear a loose ball that Cardiff' Junior Hoilett was trying to latch on to.

Maxwell's clearance strikes Hoilett and - for a split second - looks like it might bounce towards goal... But it's not quite in that direction. Cardiff clear.

  14. SUBSTITUTION (Preston)published at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

It's Preston's turn to make a change. Two of them, in fact.

Callum Robinson and Josh Harrop are coming on for Daryl Horgan and Paul Gallagher.

Meanwhile, BBC One is showing a premiere of Gone Girl at 21:15.

In other words, Cardiff and Preston have got about another five minutes to do something, or at least one of my colleagues will be changing channels.

  17. SUBSTITUTION (Cardiff)published at 21:07 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Junior Hoilett comes on for Liam Feeney, as Cardiff make their first change.

That'll see Nathaniel Mendez-Laing switch over to the left wing for the hosts, while Hoilett comes on to the right for now.

  18. Postpublished at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

Preston are having a fairly decent spell. They win a corner on their right. Paul Gallagher curls it in but it evades everyone in the middle.

  19. SUBSTITUTION (QPR)published at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Millwall 1-0 QPR

Here comes the cavalry for QPR. Top scorer Matt Smith replaces Pawel Wzsolek.

It's two up front for Ian Holloway's side now. Can they find an equaliser?

  20. Postpublished at 21:00 Greenwich Mean Time 29 December 2017

    Cardiff 0-0 Preston

After that excitement in Bermondsey, over in Cardiff, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing attempts a half-volley at goal from way, way out on the left, but it's off target and heads over towards the corner flag.
