Big drama! Bristol City have their goalkeeper Frank Fielding sent off!

Matt Doherty is brilliantly played in by Ivan Cavaleiro, Fielding comes rushing off his line and brings down the Wolves full-back.

Wolves have a free-kick 20 yards out, and now are playing against the same number of players as they have on the field themselves.

The experienced Luke Steele comes on between the sticks for the hosts, with Jamie Paterson sacrificed.

Hull squandered a two-goal lead against Fulham to stay two points above the Championship relegation zone and deny Nigel Adkins a second victory as City boss.

"I thought the first half was exceptional, we've gone 2-0 up and we could have been more," Adkins said.

"Lo and behold one of our defenders has given a stupid penalty away and that changed the complexion of the game for me.

"We've got to go again because we play Bolton in 48 hours.

"You look at the league table and we need to get another 10 victories to make sure we're in the division again next year."

    Bristol City 1-0 Wolves

Bristol City are heading second in the table and onto 50 points as things stand.

Wolves' lead at the top will only be five points. I say "only" - I'm sure Wolves fans would have taken being five points clear at the end of December when the season started.

    Bristol City break the deadlock!

It's a lightning-quick attack from the hosts, Jamie Paterson picks out Bobby Reid in the box and his shot takes the slightest of deflections off Ryan Bennett on its way past John Ruddy.

A big, big goal in the context of this Championship season.

Bristol City are ploughing balls into the Wolves box now. Wolves have the best defensive record in the Championship, but if they have one frailty, it's at set-pieces.

Adam Pritchard: Referee loving the limelight, get a grip ref. No way a red, a yellow at best.

The question is now - can Wolves survive 75+ minutes with 10 men? Can the Championship leaders even find a way to win at Ashton Gate?

Birmingham earned their first win since 18 November, Jacques Maghoma scoring the only goal of the game for the Championship's bottom side in a 1-0 victory over Leeds.

"We definitely deserved the points today," boss Steve Cotterill told BBC WM.

"Our fans had a challenge today from Leeds United and they rose to the challenge, and because they rose to the challenge the vibe around the ground was magnificent.

"That's why the players were good today - I don't know if the fans really know how much they helped the team today."

Middlesbrough lost 1-0 to visitors Aston Villa in manager Tony Pulis' first game since replacing Garry Monk as boss at the Riverside.

"I knew it was going to be a tough job and it's a tough job in lots off respects," Pulis told BBC Tees.

"I haven't managed in the Championship in a long time, so it's finding out what the league is like, finidng out what you come up against.

"But this league, the one thing you have to do is turn up every week and really give a performance.

"The players have got to understand they carry a badge for this area and this town and for the chairman who's spent an absolute fortune."

    HT: Bristol City 0-0 Wolves

Well, how to sum that half of football up?

The big talking point is the sending-off of Wolves captain Danny Batth for a lunging challenge on Hordur Magnusson after 14 minutes. Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo was sent to stands shortly afterwards after protesting once too often.

Bristol City arguably looked more of a threat against 11 men, forcing Wolves goalkeeper John Ruddy into two fine saves.

And it is Wolves who came closest to scoring, a free-kick from Barry Douglas striking the post and bouncing to safety.
