Perez had the ball breaking forward then and suddenly he had five Newcastle runners ahead of him. The mood has changed in this game. Newcastle are well in it - City have slowed the tempo right down and the visitors have got a real chance.

Richard: Some might say that Sterling penalty had no more contact than the Morata one against Norwich where he was booked for diving.

Mark: That was nowhere near as bad as Morata the other day and he got sent off. Crazy.

Brilliant from Mohamed Diame as he powers into a loose ball, slides into the box with purpose and smashes a drive into Ederson's gloves. Diame gets another bite and Ederson has to dive at his feet to knock the ball clear - before City finally get it out of danger for good.

Much, much better from the away side!

Man City have woken up.

Leroy Sane darts into space, he cuts back temptingly for Raheem Sterling, and his first-time low shot is deflected onto the post by the sprawling shape of Karl Darlow.

This could get interesting...

That's the first time Newcastle have been in the City half for 65 minutes. It shows the vulnerability about playing Zinchenko - he's at fault there. When the ball breaks down, he's out of position and Murphy races through to score a composed finish. Suddenly, we're back to where we were before with just one goal in it. It definitely livens this game up for the neutral.

What now for Newcastle and Rafa Benitez then?

Jacob Murphy launches in a cross from the right wing looking for - amazingly - one of three black and white shirts in the City box.

There is a looping headed clearance and City are away on the counter - until the ref brings play back for a foul in the middle.

All Newcastle's best-laid plans have gone out of the window. Rafa Benitez is planning to give it a go at 1-0 with Perez coming on on but then a neat 1-2 between Sterling and Sane, Sterling bursts into the box, gets clipped and goes down. Aguero scores the penalty and Newcastle hopes are shattered. Guardiola knows how crucial that goal is to seal this game.

Javier Manquillo is penalised for a tug on Raheem Sterling - who crashed to the floor. Penalty.

A great intervention from Isaac Hayden denies Sergio Aguero a certain goal.

Kyle Walker beat the offside trap to break clear down the right of the box, and his drilled cross was destined for Aguero's boot - until Hayden slid in from behind to clear for a corner. Top work.

Newcastle are starting to look a bit more comfortable with their 5-4-1 shape. City are constantly keeping the ball but it's entirely in front of Newcastle. They've stopped probing, the intensity has dropped a bit and anything can happen when the score is only 1-0.

A touch for Ederson!

Jamaal Lascelles had booted the ball up the park to nobody in particular - but it gave his side the chance to press higher up the pitch, like their manager seemingly has been demanding.

Ederson played a neat pass out to Fernandinho. No drama. It's pretty hard to get City rattled when they've been bossing a game like this.
