    Man City 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle get away with one here. I think it's Isaac Hayden who tries to dribble out of his own box - David Silva robs him and feeds Leroy Sane into a channel of space in the box, but the Magpies defence rallies to clear.

Pete Berry: Those saying that the only way to beat Man City is to attack as Liverpool did need to remember that City have put eight goals past Liverpool. It only works for teams capable of scoring three or four themselves.

Ouch. Joselu and Fernandinho both seemed to come off pretty badly from a clash in the middle of the park.

The City midfielder looks like he's holding his ribs. For a moment he's bent double and appears to be in real discomfort, but now he looks OK as he jogs back on after treatment. Joselu is up and about too - I think Ederson is marking him.

In my view, Otamendi is City's most improved player this season. He's more aggressive, better on the ball and more self-controlled. He has been one of many key transformations for City.

Ah it's just too long for Raheem Sterling. This has been - by City's standards - quite a pedestrian start to te half. De Bruyne had looked to speed things along with a risky ball for Sterling, but it didn't quite come off.

Pep Guardiola is cajoling on the sidelines.

Ederson is indeed the only player in the Manchester City half. Hope he's brought some reading.

No changes for either side at half-time by the way.

Newcastle are straight back into their defensive positions. City continuing to swagger before them.

    Here we go...

City get us restarted - at the second attempt after one of their players had strayed into Newcastle's half.

Also looking keen is Rafa Benitez on the sidelines, wiping his glasses in expectation after a big half-time team talk.

Simon Manley: Everyone is banging on about 'Plan B' - 'Plan A' is doing fine, it's our lack of quality that's not helping us. Other teams have tried a different approach and been turned over.

Jay: Some of us are still waiting for the cricket score that was promised.

So because Sergio Aguero did indeed get a telling touch on Kevin de Bruyne's cross, the Belgian is now out in front on his own in the Premier League assist charts.

He's picked up number 10 of the season so far today - one more than Manchester United's Paul Pogba and City team-mate Leroy Sane. David Silva isn't far behind himself - with eight in fourth.

Andy: Overall good half and important to get that first goal. With a bit more care with the final ball and staying onside there are more goals in this for us.

Chris: City are a good side. I will call them great if they can tear Real, Barca, PSG or Bayern apart in the Champions League and win it.

Samuel: Surely Benitez can't have believed sitting back and offering absolutely nothing in attack could work here? The Newcastle fans deserve a least a shot at watching their team play some football.

Newcastle squad value £151m, City 775m. Put that into the context of racing cars - only a breakdown of the car will help the lower priced opposition.

    That's almost Cantona-esque, Chris. Almost...

It's been fantastic to watch. Newcastle started well but then City took total control with some amazing combination football. David Silva's return on the left hand side has added another dimension to their play and he has been orchestrating most of their good work. They were banging and banging at the door and finally got their reward.

Newcastle will be so pleased to go in only one goal down. What they can do about the situation I don't know. Benitez was taking lots of notes during the first half - he might need a book to sort this out.

Imer: It's pathetic from Newcastle. What's Plan B now? Sit back more? Can't understand why teams do this when it's already been shown that the only way to beat City is to press them.

WB: If we can’t play attacking football against Huddersfield and Brighton we won’t against City. What are people expecting!

Will: I’m only paying attention to the Manchester City game to hope the relegation scrap eases from Bournemouth’s shoulders.

Eleven shots, six on target, 83.3% possession, just the one goal. An impressive half from the home side - but Newcastle are still in this.

The Manchester City fans have relaxed now. They were a little nervy when that earlier goal was chalked off. They are all sat back in their seats expecting to see two or three more goals.

Christian Atsu is no slouch. He nips down the right wing but is forced back and finds Isaac Hayden, who tries a drag-back but it ends up going out of his shin.

Kyle Walker zooms up the pitch, the ball falls to Sergio Aguero in the box, and his low effort is gathered smartly at Karl Darlow's near post.

Leroy Sane skips inside and invites Fernandinho to shoot from range - it's a snatched effort that trundles out of play.

Just seen a replay of Sergio Aguero's goal. He definitely gets a touch. It's the hair wax that does it.
