John Andrew Rougvie: Rangers to win 1-0.

Kenny O'Hara: McGregor and Armstrong are not at the races. How Sinclair hasn't scored yet, I don't know. If they keep up the pressure or move up a level, they're going to score.

Mick Dee: Need Griffiths on. They won't cope with him.

  2. 'Tavernier should have scored'published at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Tavernier should have done better. Alright, it's a hitch-kick, it's a tough skill to perform, but if you hit that into the ground, anywhere at a slight angle, it goes into the back of the net.

He got too much height on it, and that allowed Craig Gordon to knock it over the bar.

  3. 'Magnificent' Gordon saves Celticpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Magnificent save! But Celtic guilty again of giving the ball away. It started off in the Rangers half when they had possession, they go all the way back to Gordon, then they give the ball away.

But what a save. It really should have been a goal, just a finger-tip to knock it over the crossbar.

  4. CLOSE!published at 47 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Celtic straight back on the attack as the action resumes.

But a poor pass from Scott Sinclair at the other end sees Rangers create a brilliant chance. Daniel Candeias whips in a cross from the right flank and James Tavernier's hooked volley from a few yards produces a stunning finger-tip save from Craig Gordon.

  5. Time for Griffiths?published at 13:04 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

I'd be tempted to bring on Leigh Griffiths - I don't think Dembele is looking the player he was.

Celtic's key strength is their movement off the ball and I don't think that's been good enough today. That's the reason there are not as many passes on. And Griffiths gives you far more movement, in my opinion, than Dembele.

He makes runs off the defenders' shoulders, he can come for the ball and turn with it. I just think his movement would give the midfielders better options in terms of forward passes.

You've got to give Rangers credit because they are aggressive and in their faces, and playing with 10 men - Kranjcar is a complete passenger.

In most other Old Firm games under Brendan Rodgers, Rangers would be out of it by now. They're alive in the game, but you have to question whether they can keep weathering the storm here.

It's a bit of a freak Rangers haven't conceded. They need to up their own level and create their own threat, because this Celtic defence looks very questionable and they're getting caught out in possession a lot.

  8. 'Celtic uncomfortable at the back'published at 13:01 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    HT: Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

Celtic don't look totally comfortable when they're pressed at the back and that's why the game is on a knife-edge at the moment.

I've never seen Celtic play so many long balls back to Craig Gordon. Scott Brown's done it, so has Boyata, Ajer, Lustig. That tells you they're lacking options in the forward areas and are having to play the ball back to try and start the game again.

Credit to Rangers for closing down Celtic's space. They're going to have to do that in the second half, while making sure they offer some sort of threat.

There's no doubt Celtic's front four will up their levels in the second half - if they do, it's likely they'll take one of their opportunities.

  9. 'Brown & Armstrong driving Celtic'published at 12:56 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Michael Stewart
Former Scotland midfielder on BBC Sportsound

You've got to give credit to Rangers and the way they started the game. They put Celtic under pressure and forced them into making mistakes.

Celtic have come into it and dominated the ball and created better chances. But I don't think Celtic have been anywhere near their best, and that's partly down to the pressure Rangers have put them under.

Ross McCrorie has done very well in the middle of the park, protecting the backline and bringing energy to that area where they almost look outnumbered because Niko Kranjcar is not up to pace.

Celtic's front four are nowhere near the levels you would expect. None of them have hit the heights. Whereas in the middle of the park, Brown and Armstrong are really driving Celtic.

  10. 'Bad control and bad passing'published at 12:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Celtic have had lots of the ball but they've been very guilty of bad control and bad passing, so they'll probably be a little but upset by the way Rangers have got in about them. I think that's been one of the strategies of Graeme Murty to make it difficult for Celtic.

  11. HALF-TIME - Celtic 0-0 Rangerspublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

Rangers haven't won at Celtic Park since October 2010, and haven't beaten Celtic in the Scottish Premiership anywhere since March 2012.

They may have ridden their luck slightly at times, but they're still in with a chance of ending that run, as things stand. Just.

A whirlwind first half ends goalless.

  12. 'How did he miss that?'published at 12:49 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

It was easier for Sinclair to put that in the back of the net! How did he miss that? Brilliant play from Armstrong, getting behind the Rangers defence, and Sinclair should have been putting Celtic one up.

  13. CLOSE!published at 45+2 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Into the second minute of added time and Scott Sinclair misses the best chance of the whole half. Great inter-play from Stuart Armstrong and James Forrest down the right, and when Armstrong's cross finds him at the back post, Sinclair steers it inches wide of the left post. Should have scored.

  14. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Rangers midfielder Ross McCrorie is heading off for some treatment after colliding with James Forrest. He looks a bit shaken up but may just be winded though.

The visitors down to 10 men for the time being.

  15. 'Managers eager for half-time'published at 12:43 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Brendan Rodgers will want to have a word with his team about their passing and their final ball.

Graeme Murty will want Rangers to get a rest at half-time and consolidate what they were doing early in the game.

  18. Celtic must 'up the tempo'published at 12:37 Greenwich Mean Time 30 December 2017

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Celtic need to get the ball moving a wee bit quicker, get the tempo up about another 10%, because they're a little bit slack on the ball, they're allowing Rangers to get tackles in, and then with the final ball, they're just giving it away in crucial areas.

  19. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Nice move down the right by Celtic, with Callum McGregor and the ubiquitous Mikael Lustig involved, but Rangers left-back Declan John gets back to toe it away for a corner.

The set-piece isn't the best from Stuart Armstrong, and we're still goalless. 10 minutes to half-time.

  20. Postpublished at 31 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

James Tavernier may not be reknowned for his defence, but the full-back knows how to whip in a cross from the right flank.

But Mikael Lustig - who had a wobbly start to the match - deals with it this time, and Josh Windass gives away a free-kick by putting two hands on the Celtic full-back.
