GassingPirate: Imagine Lingard and Wilshere in that England side. Wilshere to create. Lingard one of the few to know a run. With Kane, the only certainties

secondballfc: Darmian needs to go. Couldn't even handle the #Yeovil, external winger the first half. No offence to Yeovil.

If you thought Rashford was good, wait until you see this lad Gomes

    Chris, Wilmslow

Wow Alexis Sanchez what a player - not managed a goal against a side struggling in league two. Give him the Ballon d'or now

    Duncan, Leyton

In reply to mpgreeny, fair enough Pogba hasn’t shown enough as of yet but Martial has been outstanding, how you can call him a waste of money bamboozles me

    Thomas, Preston

Good debut from Sanchez, but the first real test will be his performance against Spurs. One way to win over the Arsenal fans?

Players have to up their game and they're excited about playing with Alexis Sanchez. I'm not surprised to hear Mourinho saying he'll have a problem because he wants to play every minute of every game.

He just wants to play football and he makes those passes in the final third. He keeps his head and takes that extra second, as we saw with the second goal. It was a crucial moment in the game. He's got to be delighted with the start he's had to his United career

  9. Happy to talk...published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2018

    Tom Garry
    BBC Sport at Huish Park

On Jose Mourinho's last visit to the West Country - December's Carabao Cup loss at Bristol City - the United boss swept through his media duties so quickly that he delivered his press conference to only one member of the written press.

No such speed this time. The press conference room is packed and we should be hearing from the 55-year-old relatively soon, after his 100th game in charge of United.

  10. United spoilt for choicepublished at 22:00 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2018

Jesse Lingard is in the form of his life so it's unbelievable that you're wondering whether he'll start or not. Anthony Martial is also in the best form he's been in since he came to the club, but you've got to say Sanchez and Lukaku will start every game.

But Jose Mourinho has plenty of attacking options now and can pick certain players for certain games

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho: "These matches are difficult if the attitude is not correct. In the first half they gave us a difficult time, pressing and aggressive on the ball and on the shinpads. I could hear Darren Way on the touchline, he knew what he was saying, they were organised.

"But in the second half we had control of the game and had more space and more quality, we killed the game.

"Alexis Sanchez is a fantastic addition, everyone is happy that he comes. Good players want good players. The question is always which one is going to be left out, it is not about that for us.

"We have a fantastic group of attacking players and he is another one with more maturity and experience. His choice for the second goal is a choice that a player like Marcus Rashford is too nervous to make that kind of decision. He brings maturity and class."

It would be unfair to dissect Yeovil's performance or rip it apart. For 45 minutes they held their own and showed some spirit. But United played the game perfect. They slowed the game down when they needed to and then burst into life when they needed to. They drew the life out of Yeovil and didn't allow the atmosphere to get going. But Yeovil showed enough spirit to suggest they'll stay up

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera: "We had to work very hard, it's not easy to come here. The passion they put in for every ball made it tricky but we took it very seriously.

"Alexis Sanchez can play everywhere, he's fantastic. The attitude he shows, he fights for every ball. He's a star and it's amazing to have him with us. This is a team and today we did it well."

Jesse Lingard: "Our attitude was spot on, it was always going to be tough. We adapted well to the ground and all made an impact. The FA Cup is very important, it's great to win trophies, that's what we are here for."

The gaps are starting to appear now. You feel a bit sorry for Yeovil, about the opportunities they've given United. But United warrant the result, this has been a 4-0 game

  19. goal

GOAL - Yeovil 0-4 Man Utdpublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2018

    Romelu Lukaku (90 mins)

Manchester United are piling on the pain in a near-silent Huish Park. Yeovil are all over the place, nowhere near a back four any more, ragged and ripped.

Omar Sowunmi is playing the world and his wife onside, Marcos Rojo of all people is free on the left, and he crosses for sub Romelu Lukaku to bury a volley from six yards.

    Emphatic win.

  20. Lingard's a class actpublished at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January 2018

Jesse Lingard's a class act. He's come onto the pitch, eventually got his chance and taken it. He's come on so much this season. The runs he makes, his touches...he's turning into a top player for Manchester United
