    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

    I don't understand this Cardiff side, I really don't.

They go from looking unbreakable to falling apart in a matter of moments, this time allowing Jordan Rhodes to whip in a cross and put the ball on a plate for Lucas Joao.

Joao, from a central position, plants his header straight at Neil Etheridge. That's two he's missed in quick succession.

    The commentator's curse works!

Cardiff have a moment of madness at the back, a tame header back towards their own goal latched onto by Jordan Rhodes, who slides Lucas Joao through on goal.

Joao had to test keeper Neil Etheridge, but drags the shot wide of the far post. Big chance.

Does a commentator's curse work when you're trying to will it into existence?

Probably not, but it's worth trying anyway.

There just isn't anything to report from Hillsborough right now.

Cardiff win a corner as Joe Bennett heads behind, not getting a shout from his keeper to let him know there was no threat behind him.

The delivery isn't a great one, presenting no threat to the hosts.

At the other end, Adam Reach sends the Owls' first shot of the half well over the bar.

If you're wondering why there haven't been many updates so far this half, it's because there hasn't really been anything to update you on.

As exciting as the end to the first half was, the start to the second period has been desperately poor.

The first 45 minutes started that way too though, so perhaps better fare is just around the corner.

After missing the chance to go 12 points clear at the top, losing 2-0 at home to Nottingham Forest, Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo told BBC WM 95.6:

"It was one of the games where we were not as good as we could and should be.

"We knew that this day could come. We must improve and have to bounce back immediately from this.

"I am responsible maybe for not telling the boys we still have a long way to go. Nobody can relax here."

So we're still waiting for our 32nd Championship goal of the day - but what did you make of the 31 that we've had already? What was your pick of the afternoon? Was Joel Asoro's goal really that good?

When a Man Utd fan is to miss facing Man Utd

There was late drama and controversy at Huish Park as a 93rd-minute Chesterfield winner beat Yeovil 2-1 in League Two.

Feeling that he'd been fouled in the build-up, Yeovil's Otis Khan barged the referee and was sent off in the 94th minute.

That means that the former Manchester United trainee - and fan of the Premier League side - will miss Friday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against United through suspension.

Glovers boss Darren Way told BBC Somerset: "What you have got is a broken lad in there.

"The boy is from Manchester United. He knows, at that time, his dreams are shattered.

"I'm disappointed he reacted like that, but you've got to think of Otis. I feel his hurt at the moment, I really do."

  10. Coleman on 'fabulous' Asoro winnerpublished at 18:22 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2018

    FT: Sunderland 1-0 Hull

    Joel AsoroImage source, Rex Features

Sunderland manager Chris Coleman has been raving about Joel Asoro's first goal for the Black Cats, which earned the hosts a 1-0 win over Hull at the Stadium of Light:

"The goal we scored, I don't think any team I've ever managed have scored a goal as good as that," Coleman told Sunderland's website.

    "It was absolutely fabulous.

"The passing, the movement and the finish was brilliant."

  11. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+3 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

It's a bit of a shame to hear the referee's whistle blow, as this game has come to life in the last few minutes.

Cardiff haven't really looked like scoring despite their early dominance and Wednesday will be frustrated not to have taken at least one of their late chances.

  12. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

Suddenly, it is all Sheffield Wednesday.

Sol Bamba misjudges Adam Reach's cross from the left, but he recovers in style to slide in on Morgan Fox and stop the shot from hitting the target.

Cardiff, having dominated the game, cannot wait for half-time.

  13. Postpublished at 44 mins

How has this not gone in?

Wednesday forward Lucas Joao slips a brilliant through ball to the feet of Jordan Rhodes, whose snap shot is parried straight to Adam Reach.

Reach, with 90% of the goal uncovered, snatches at his effort and slices the ball over the bar.

  14. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

Should be 1-0 to the hosts.

David Jones sends in an absolute peach of a free-kick from the left, generating a huge amount of power and swerve, but Jordan Rhodes can't keep his header down.

  15. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

I wonder if Neil Warnock has told Cardiff to shoot on sight?

Another shot from distance draws a strong save, Marko Grujic's shot bouncing awkwardly in front of Joe Wildsmith, who parries it behind.

Wildsmith looks the best Wednesday player on the pitch tonight.

  16. Birmingham 'disappointed'published at 18:05 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2018

    FT: Preston 1-1 Birmingham City

    Sam GallagherImage source, Rex Features

Birmingham City boss Steve Cotterill has been speaking to BBC WM 95.6 after Sam Gallagher's fifth goal in seven games earned the 23rd-placed Blues a 1-1 draw at play-off chasing Preston:

"We'll be going home disappointed tonight because we think our performance merited the win today.

"We could have gone two goals up before they scored.

"We've been playing well for a little while now. This isn't a coincidence - this is starting to be a good, consistent team."

  17. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

It's gone a bit quiet again here.

Joe Ralls attempts another long-distance effort for Cardiff, his shot going harmlessly wide of goal.

Neil Warnock will clearly be the happier of the two bosses, but he might be a little concerned about the lack of shots on target.

    A shot for Sheffield Wednesday!

It's actually a pretty decent one, Lucas Joao galloping forward down the left and squaring the ball to Ross Wallace, who has a bit of space 25 yards out from goal.

Wallace gets a lot of power on his left-footed strike, but he plants his shot a yard or two over the bar.

  19. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-0 Cardiff

Cardiff don't really need to pass the ball around to breach the Sheffield Wednesday defence.

Junior Hoilett and Yanic Wildschut are causing all kinds of problems with the ball at their feet, with Wildschut's first-time effort drawing another save out of Joe Wildsmith.

A couple of minutes later, Kenneth Zohore is played through on goal but can't get enough power on his shot to beat Wildsmith under pressure from an Owls defender.

  20. 'Coming to terms with what playing for Villa is'published at 17:52 Greenwich Mean Time 20 January 2018

    FT: Aston Villa 3-1 Barnsley

    Steve BruceImage source, Empics

Speaking after his side's 3-1 home win over Barnsley, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce tells BBC WM 95.6:

"We did exceptionally well for an hour and then got a bit sloppy. Overall, it is very, very pleasing.

"We're in with a shout. We're there or thereabouts and there's a bit of confidence about the lads.

"All of them who I signed last January, for me, have only just come to terms with it now, what playing for Aston Villa is."
