Birmingham need to put today behind them because they have been well off the pace today.

Villa were well worth it today in every aspect.

It didn't really feel that Birmingham gave it a go going forward while Villa had intent and went for it.

Villa have gone second and a few weeks ago I couldn't see that happening, but they've got goals from right across the midfield and they've been sold defensively.

Once they got their noses in front today they never looked like losing their grip.

"I'm lasting longer in games and I'm performing better."

  11. Postpublished at 90+3 mins

    Aston Villa 2-0 Birmingham City

Villa have simply had more quality than Birmingham today.

I don't think it'll go down as one of those derby games where one side has shown more passion or desire than the other.

What we're watching here is a Villa team who look set to make a very, very strong bid for promotion this season.

    Aston Villa 2-0 Birmingham City

The Villains will replay that Conor Hourihane goal in montages over and over again, for years to come.
