Alan Ferguson: Considering his injuries and number of goals at West Ham, surely their fans must be in disbelief in getting £20m+ for Andy Carroll? As for Chelsea fans, they must be in disbelief at shelling out £20m+ for Andy Carroll.

Antonio Conte has lamented his side's struggles in front of goal, so is Andy Carroll the answer?

The West Ham striker has been strongly linked, external with a move to Stamford Bridge.

Didn't see that one coming, I have to admit.

    Thoughts, Chelsea fans?

    Chelsea v Norwich (19:45 GMT)

Antonio Conte does indeed rotate his squad. Just the nine changes with César Azpilicueta and Tiémoué Bakayoko the only two to retain their places.

Just the one change for Norwich as they name a strong side.

Chelsea were well below par in the first game against Norwich, and have been in the last few games, they look fatigued to be honest.

A few teams have been away to Dubai for warm weather training camps, but Chelsea haven't had the luxury of a mid-season trip, so I would have thought that Antonio Conte would rotate his team again tonight.

It's been a busy but frustrating start to the year for Chelsea, who have drawn four matches in a row, and rarely looked like scoring against their mid-table Championship opponents at Carrow Road in the first encounter.

There's changes from Saturday's goalless encounter with Leicester, but last year's beaten finalists should still have enough to get through at the second time of asking.

Norwich have sold one of their key creative players, Alex Pritchard, to Huddersfield since the first game, but still have the potential to frustrate the champions.

They're on a five match unbeaten run and have only conceded one goal in that time.

  12. Lots and lots of goals?published at 18:33 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2018

If you need a reminder, Norwich and Chelsea played out a goalless draw earlier this month in a tie that is best expunged from memory.

It was a result that kickstarted a record-breaking run of three successive goalless draws for Chelsea. That's more than four hours without scoring a goal.

The barren run has to end sometime and Blues boss Antonio Conte has had the players working on their finishing in the hope that tonight will be the night.

"In every training session we try to improve our players' finishing," he said. "Maybe a game will arrive when you score a lot of goals, when you shoot and you score."

    Here's hoping, Antonio.

Sometimes football is an absolute joy...

... but sometimes it can be just plain boring.

Liverpool versus Manchester City was an example of the former, while the FA Cup third round match between Norwich and Chelsea was an example of the latter.

    It was dull. Very dull.

But surely lightning can't strike twice, can it?
