Hensol Castle is as busy as it's ever been for Ryan Giggs' unveiling as Wales manager.

There's a larger media presence today than there was even for Wales' Euro 2016 squad announcement.

In fact, this place probably only houses more people when it's used as a wedding venue. What are the chances of Giggs entering the room with a tie around his head?

James Mutch: There is some positivity to Paul Lambert... as a Scotsman I’m thankful this puts him out the running for Scotland manager! But I suppose negative things were said about Hodgson when he got the Palace job, so you never know.

Cyrille Regis was my earliest memory of football, even being far too young to have seen him in action, I grew up a baggie with my dad showing me highlights of yesteryear at the club. The 3 degrees were always captivating and Regis stood out to me in particular. I woke to find out of his passing and shared my dad’s tears. He epitomised what it means to be a Baggie, a true legend and pioneer for the game.

"I think the experience he's gained from playing at one of the biggest clubs in the world - why not give him the opportunity?

"I'm disappointed that we're even arguing about Ryan Giggs, whether fans want him or not."

In a statement, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) say they are "delighted" to announce the appointment of Ryan Giggs on a four-year contract.

Giggs said: “I am so proud to have been given the honour of managing the National Team. The challenges that we have ahead of us with the Nations League and qualification for Uefa Euro 2020 excite me a great deal.

“I can’t wait to start working with the players as we prepare for those crucial games later in the year.”

Giggs’ first game in charge will be in the 2018 China Cup against the hosts on 22 March in Nanning.

  15. Ryan Giggs is the new manager of Walespublished at 13:16 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2018

#bbcfootball or text 81111 (UK only)

Giggs has signed a four-year contract and takes over from Chris Coleman, who led Wales to the Euro 2016 semi-finals but left in November to take over at Sunderland.

Giggs won 64 caps between 1991 and 2007 but was unpopular with some Wales fans for missing many friendlies.

The former winger ended his playing career in 2014 and was Louis van Gaal's assistant at Old Trafford for the following two seasons before leaving United in 2016 after Jose Mourinho was appointed as manager.

What do you think? Is it a good appointment? Let us know?

Ross Quinn: Wales are now a laughing stock. To blame Ferguson as well is weak, if the country meant anything he'd ignore him. At least Bellamy and Roberts loved their country but Wales just seem to be going a-list. How any player will respect such a character is beyond me?

  17. Blame Ferguson for Giggs missing friendlies - Blackmorepublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 15 January 2018

Former Manchester United defender Clayton Blackmore has told BBC Sport Wales that it was Sir Alex Ferguson, not Ryan Giggs, who was responsible for Giggs missing so many Wales friendlies.

"I need to put something to rest that everybody is going on about, 'he didn't turn up for friendlies," Blackmore said.

"He didn't have much choice with that."

Blackmore insists that Giggs, a teammate of his at United between 1990-94, is a proud Welshman who missed friendlies on the insistence of his manager.
