Chelsea have just not been good enough in the second half but the effort has been there. They've had one or two underperformers. Eden Hazard has been their standout performer and N'Golo Kante has played well too, but going forward they've lacked that creative spark.

Arsenal are doubling, at times tripling, up on Eden Hazard.

The Chelsea man keeps offering for the ball. But he has been shepherded away from danger every time so far in this second half.

Arsenal fans - do you have any nails left?

_John_louis_9: Arsenal please defend this. I don’t want to see late drama.

beevis71: It's going to go to extra time, if any team can concede it's Arsenal

The Emirates crowd greet the ball as it flies their way and well over the crossbar from Marcos Alonso's left peg.

Time ebbing away for the visitors.

Shkodran Mustafi comes through the back of Ross Barkley - that betrayed some nerves.

Thirty-five yards out and Marcos Alonso is lining it up....

As a Man City fan, was thinking Arsenal is preferred but on these performances I’d happily take either.

Davide Zappacosta's frustration gets the better of him after Nacho Monreal nips in to steal the ball.

He tugs back the Spanish full-back and gives away a free-kick. Which Arsenal take their pretty time over.

    Five to go.

A double switch to try and put the dampener on this contest.

Aaron Ramsey and Sead Kolasinac come on in place of Alexandre Lacazette and Alex Iwobi.

I don't support either of these teams and I don't really care who wins. Can't you please show my text to cheer me up at work though? Sound one.

Michy Batshuayi's cross is cleared behind at the expense of a Chelsea corner.

Ross Barkley's inswinging delivery is met by Antonio Rudiger, but the Blues defender sends a tame header looping over.

Got his timing all wrong there.

Chelsea are leaving big holes at the back and the lure of a killer goal is making Arsenal commit to the counter attack in numbers.

That one comes to an end via a dud pass from Alexandre Lacazette.

With Chelsea turning the screw in terms of more possession and better attacking positions, this is on a knife edge.

  15. GREAT SAVE!published at 77 mins

    Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea

That could have been goodbye and good night for Chelsea.

Arsenal at their warp-speed best as Hector Bellerin springs Mesut Ozil and the German squares for Alex Iwobi 15 yards out.

The Arsenal man has time and is under little pressure, but his low shot is too close to Willy Caballero who sticks out a leg to save.

Ross Barkley hasn't really had an impact on his debut. Granted, he's going to take a while to get up to speed but you'd expect a little bit more from your new signing.

Tonight has provided a good opportunity for him but it just hasn't happened.

Marcos Alonso turns left and right trying to find a cutting pass on the fringe of the box, but has no options available.

Instead he gets his head down and puts his laces through the ball.

    Too far underneath it.

The ball sails over the Arsenal bar.
