    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

Jurgen Klopp speaking to BT Sport: "It's obvious what we did wrong in these situations. The second goal was just, wow, really bad defending from the whole group. That's not how defending should be.

"We didn't use the chance on the penalty and then their third goal must be off-side. What can you do?

"We had to show character in the second-half. We chased the game and maybe scored the second goal too late. When you start how we did you cannot play your best football game.

"They tried to save some time - which was normal - and in the end, West Brom deserve it because they scored three goals and we only scored two. They did well and fought with passion. But we have only ourselves to blame."

  4. 'We need to deliver the points'published at 22:11 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2018

    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

More from Pardew: "We were showing signs of it but now we need to deliver the points in the Premier League. We will need to patch ourselves up though as it's not ideal we are playing Manchester City on Wednesday.

"But I'm really proud of my players and all credit to Liverpool too for the way they handled themselves during those VAR decisions.

On Jonny Evans' potential transfer: "Jonny is being approached by big clubs but we have not got an offers in as yet. That's what the window is all about - you have to react."

Mike Refausse: Klopp seems to have put all his faith in Oxlade-Chamberlain or Lallana playing well post-Coutinho. But when they don't, Liverpool simply don't have any creativity.

Ramy Nicolas: A poorly selected midfield and a lack of creativity cost Liverpool the game, not just the defensive shambles.

Adam: Great result for West Brom, would have been so much more useful in the Premier League, they'd hope this victory increases morale and form for upcoming Premier League matches.

Kris: Great result for West Brom. Pardew will be dad-dancing all the way home.

  6. 'It was just weird!'published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2018

    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

    West Bromwich Albion

Alan Pardew speaking to BT Sport on VAR: "We were struggling at the end because we ran out of bodies and the VAR system was a problem because I think we got a player with a hamstring injury because they were standing around for too long!

"It was strange. It wasn't what I would like to see going forward. Is it going to take away goals? It was just weird. We waited so long to wait for the decisions, the stadium went flat and every goal was a bit of a mockery because we were waiting for the decision!

Just not good enough Liverpool. Where are all the people who said: "Phillipe who?" after the Man City game? No magic without him.

Paul Farrell: Not one Liverpool player had the balls to boss this game. We desperately need a few nasty snide players.

Josh Gafson: Liverpool definitely missing Coutinho. Without a replacement they can kiss goodbye to a Champions League finish.

  14. 'Mahrez looks like a Liverpool player'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2018

    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live at Anfield

Riyad Mahrez would thrive in this Liverpool team, because he plays well in teams that have a lot of possession, and that play attacking football. Mahrez just looks like a Liverpool player to me, and if I was in charge at Liverpool, I'd be banging down Leicester's door to get him.

Noel Fitzpatrick: When your centre-forward is Danny Ings, what are you doing putting in crosses with lots of air on them, and no pace?? Foster will lap those up all day!!! Have to question Klopp's instructions!

Rob Cunningham: Fair result. It's easier to accept defeat thanks to VAR - a dodgy goal and penalty not given would wind me up. This way, West Brom were simply the better team.

Mark: Can't remember Klopp being so unanimated during a game.

Matthew Johnston: There was a time when West Brom couldn't even score. Does three at Liverpool show progress or just how bad Liverpool's defence really is?

Phil Ainley: Liverpool are as far away from winning trophies as they’ve ever been. Non-existent defending and dodgy keepers do not win you titles.

  19. Jay Rodriguez for England?published at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2018

    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

Steven Gerrard has just told BT Sport he believes that was a performance worthy of an England re-call for Jay Rodriguez.

"That was his game to say, look, I'm back. It was the Jay Rodriguez of old."

What do you think to that Baggies fans?

  20. 'Liverpool need to bring in one creative player before the end of the window'published at 21:46 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2018

    Liverpool 2-3 West Brom

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live at Anfield

Liverpool were looking to their bench today thinking 'who are we going to bring on to change the game', but there was no-one to bring on. There's no Daniel Sturridge or Phillipe Coutinho like there might have been earlier in the season, and you've got to think Liverpool need to bring in one creative player before the end of the transfer window.
