Jon Spurling: I do hope that #Arsenal players are more focussed on tonight's match than the fans. Let's hope that they're not also lamenting the imminent departure of #Giroud and debating whether #DavidLuiz isn't just as flaky as current #AFC defenders.

"Danny found it very difficult in the circumstances previous to my own appointment," Murty said.

"He decided he had an option that he worked really hard to get for himself and his family in a different place.

"We had a bit of a heart-to-heart and talked about his options. I couldn't, hand on heart, stand in his way."

This is what he said: "I don't know. I don't think so but in football everything can happen. I am 95-99 per cent that nothing is going happen."

By my reckoning that means there is a one to five per cent chance of something happening then...

Tom West: As a LCFC fan it's the timing of this that really annoys me. Riyad for sure deserves to play for a Champions League side (whether Man City are the right one is another debate), but this leaves us with almost no time to find an adequate replacement. Should demand 60m+
