    That would make it four bids for the front man so far from Neil Warnock's side.

    Bolton chairman Ken Anderson is quoted as saying it would take an "exceptional" bid for the club to allow Madine to leave this month.

    Nottingham Forest have rejected a "substantial" bid for Joe Worrall from Premier League side Burnley, reports BBC Nottingham Sport.

    The deal for the 21-year-old England Under-21 centre-half is understood to be around £12m.

    And while we're on Rafa Benitez (14:58), the Newcastle boss has been holding his media conference ahead of tomorrow's game against Burnley.

    The club missed out on Daniel Sturridge yesterday to West Brom and it's known Benitez is keen to add to his squad ahead of the deadline.

    “We have some time and I am confident we can do something.

    "We have an important game tomorrow. I will not talk about the window, I will focus on the game," said Benitez.

    "We have two or three players talking with clubs at the moment but it depends on if we can get some players in."

    Borussia Dortmund have cleared Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to have a medical at Arsenal but the deal is still not done.

    The German transfer window closes at 1700 GMT tomorrow.

    However, for transfers to a German club from overseas, that only applies to lodging contracts with the DFL.

    The actual registration is done via Fifa and they have until 2300 GMT to complete that, so, in theory, a contract could be lodged for a transfer that never actually goes through.

    Wolves have agreed to sign forward Diego Jota on a permanent deal from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.

    Former top-flight referee Paul Alcock has died at the age of 64, the Premier League has announced.

    Alcock was famously pushed over by ex-Sheffield Wednesday striker Paolo di Canio after he had sent the Italian off during a league match in 1998.

    He took charge of 94 Premier League matches between 1995 and 2000.

    The fee for Aymeric Laporte, yet to win a cap for France, takes spending by Premier League clubs to £252m this month - a record for a January transfer window.

    And the 23-year-old's arrival takes City's spending on defenders since the end of last season to £190m.

    Manager Pep Guardiola said: "I understand the criticism but we have spent £300m on six players. Others have done it on two. We had a lot of older players out of contract. To compete we needed to spend.

    "A club can decide to spend on two players. We did it in a different way. We understand the inflation of the market. We have spend on six players and others have done it in one or two. We accept criticism but more important it that they play well."
