But this is where the Easter Monday madness starts.

    Let's go...

The top three sides in League Two are all at home this afternoon, with leaders Accrington hosting fourth-placed Kevin Nolan's Notts County in the pick of the games in the promotion race.

Luton, in second, three points behind Stanley, host play-off chasing Mansfield, while third-placed Wycombe are at home to relegation-threatened Grimsby.

Meanwhile, with 23rd-placed Chesterfield's meeting with Newport postponed, Barnet have the chance to move off the bottom of the table, if they can avoid defeat at Stevenage.

With leaders Wigan not in action until 17:30 BST when they face Portsmouth - and by the way, do stay with us for that one later folks - it means Blackburn have the chance to go top of the League One table if they win at MK Dons this afternoon.

Shrewsbury, in third, can also maintain pressure on the top two if they beat Oxford at home - that one is also among the 15:00 BST League One games.

Scunthorpe (5th) v Plymouth (6th) is among the postponed games, meaning that Peterborough (7th) and Charlton (8th) have an opportunity to move in to the play-off places before 17:00.

    QPR v Norwich (15:00 BST)

While there's plenty going on at the top and bottom of the Championship today, this one has a bit of a 'dead rubber' feel about it.

Both sides are safe, but have left it too late to mount a play-off push.

It's 14th versus 15th at Loftus Road. The flip flops are already packed.

  7. McCarthy's farewell tour continues against old boyspublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 2 April 2018

    Ipswich v Millwall (15:00 BST)

    Mick McCarthyImage source, PA

Ipswich and manager Mick McCarthy will part ways at the end of the season that's for sure.

One thing that is less certain as things stand is who will step in and follow in his footsteps at Portman Road next term.

One of his former employers Millwall will care very little about that this afternoon as they hunt down a play-off place and a bit of history.

Neil Harris' men have won their past six league away matches for just the second time and have never won seven away from home in a row.

One thing that will work in their favour is the fact Ipswich haven't scored in their past five home Championship matches.

Bristol City v Brentford (15:00 BST)

That win for Derby means seventh-placed Bristol City are three points behind the fifth-placed Rams ahead of the Robins' meeting with Brentford this afternoon.

The London club will really need a win or their play-off hopes will look pretty faint indeed come 17:00 BST.

But Lee Johnson's Bristol City can ill-afford to drop points either... They'll be wanting to better Middlesbrough, Millwall and Sheffield United's results today.

  9. Brewers do like Mondayspublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 2 April 2018

    Burton v Middlesbrough (15:00 BST)

Staying at the bottom and Burton fans haven't had a great deal to cheer this season in the Championship as they look set to fall through the relegation trap door.

Nigel Clough's men also slipped to the bottom of the table after Sunderland's unexpected win at Derby on Friday, but one thing that might work in their favour against a play-off chasing Middlesbrough this afternoon is the fact it's Monday.

The Brewers have won their past two Championship games played on Monday, scoring five goals and keeping two clean sheets.

A perfect day then to start mounting a great escape then with seven games remaining and six points to make up to safety.

  10. Black Cats hope to push onpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 2 April 2018

Sunderland v Sheffield Wednesday (15:00 BST)

    Chris ColemanImage source, Rex Features

After plenty of focus on the play-offs over the last couple of hours, let's shift focus to the bottom of the Championship.

One of the shock results of the season came at Pride Park on Friday night as struggling Sunderland stunned Derby with a 4-1 away win.

Chris Coleman's side are off the bottom of the table and now just five points off safety.

But, while Mondays are great for fellow strugglers Burton - they're less than ideal for the Black Cats.

They have won none of their past eight league matches played on Monday at the Stadium of Light (D5 L3), last winning against West Brom in August 2006.

Big three points for Derby as they end that barren run.

Preston stay outside the top six and will now have to wait and watch the afternoon's other scores to see if they lose any further ground.

    And that is that.

A case of what could've been for Preston after Alan Browne's first-half penalty miss.

Tom Lawrence's sizzling free-kick did hit the target in the second half and that was enough for a first win in nine games for Derby.
