    West Brom 1-2 Southampton

Another big punch clear from a West Brom corner - the home side's 10th of the game.

Southampton can break but Cedric Soares' cross is too high - there were men in the middle, he should have done better.

    How West Brom needed that.

The home fans have been behind their team all afternoon but Southampton’s second would have tried their patience had Rondon not smashed home his goal.

    Still hope for the hosts.

Colin Bundred: Great goal from Rondon. A much better striker than often given credit for

Jamie Watson: I think Pardew should be sacked, done absolutely nothing for this WBA side, got them playing better football, but anyone could if improved on Pulis football.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:20 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    Brighton 2-0 Coventry

Two half-time changes to tell you about:

Tim Krul and Dale Stephens were replaced by Niki Maenpaa and Davy Propper. Krul did take that knock in the earlier challenge with Jonson Clarke-Harris.

We can’t underestimate how good that goal was. What a goal from Rondon.

You've got to remember that Rondon is actually right-footed.

You have got to watch Match of the Day tonight to see that!

    Salomon Rondon

Hold the phone! What an absolutely scorching finish that is.

Think peak Robin van Persie. Salomon Rondon screeches Grzegorz Krychowiak's diagonal chipped through ball first-time on his left foot. The net does more than bulge. The home fans are roaring now. Comeback on!

GOAL - West Brom 0-2 Southamptonpublished at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    Dusan Tadic (56 mins)

It's a cruel game at times.

Southampton break smartly through Guido Carrillo down the left. He hoists it up for Dusan Tadic in the middle. He's got space, but Grzegorz Krychowiak can cover with a meaty challenge. Thing is, he jumps out of it. Tadic evades him and dinks the ball over Ben Foster with a lovely little finish.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:12 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

    Another great stop!

Grzegorz Krychowiak takes a pop from the edge, it takes a massive deflection off Wesley Hoedt and Alex McCarthy switches his body in mid-air to dive the opposite way and steer behind.

Ahmed Hugazi rises to head just wide from the resulting corner. So many chances...

Dusan Tadic angles in a swerving cross that is too long for Guido Carrillo - just. Well watched by Ben Foster

  12. A real cup tie nowpublished at 16:10 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

    Michael Appleton

From a neutral point of view, the opening minutes of this second half have been better than the whole of the first half.

It's a real cup tie now.

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

The home fans are bouncing now, I can tell you that much. A real change in atmosphere. Suddenly they believe there's something in this for their side. And that's a long way from the feeling at the very start of this second half.

Brighton have been dominant as we expected.

I have been very impressed by the way the Seagulls have played these cross field balls.

Coventry's full backs have been too narrow and Knockaert has made a real impact.

  15. GREAT SAVES!published at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

    Fingertips!

Wesley Hoedt hands Jay Rodriguez a clear run on goal as he slices at Ben Foster's long clearance. Rodriguez drills a low shot on the angle and Alex McCarthy does really well to tip just wide.

From the corner, Craig Dawson rises to head on goal and McCarthy tips over again!

Second corner: McCarthy attacks it and punches clear. A really busy few minutes for the Southampton keeper. Vital stops. And much better from West Brom.

  16. West Brom need more pacepublished at 16:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February 2018

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

    Michael Appleton
Leicester City assistant on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

West Brom need more quality in the final third.

They have become too predictable. They never threatened to get in behind Southampton in the first half. They need a change of pace and to get higher up the pitch.

Maybe Burke should come on to create that bit of pace.

    West Brom 0-1 Southampton

Gareth Barry launches a deep free-kick into the Southampton box but it hangs in the air so long Alex McCarthy would have had time to take his cap off and head it away if he was wearing one.

Alan Pardew's side are then stretched at the back as Cedric Soares zips a cross in - smart clearance from Ahmed Hegazi.

It was another beautifully delivered ball for Brighton's second goal.

Connor Goldson rising, no-one from Coventry protecting the goal line.

Brighton's accuracy and application of the cross field ball has been outstanding, even taking into consideration they are playing a side from League Two.
