  1. PENALTYpublished at 38 mins

    Hungary 0-0 Scotland

Out of nowhere, Scotland have a penalty as Ryan Fraser is clattered right on the edge of the box.

The wee winger was running on to a loose ball and was wiped out by a clumsy challenge from Laszlo Kleinheisler.

  2. 'Comfortable but uninspiring'published at 19:39 British Summer Time 27 March 2018

The threat Scotland seemed to offer initially has dropped significantly against a side that look unsure of themselves. They started with a good tempo but didn’t maintain that.

Andrew Robertson has been very quiet and has struggled to get forward. John McGinn hasn’t really imposed himself on the game but he’s not alone. It’s comfortable but uninspiring.

Hungary are in a similar position to Scotland and it is evident in this game. There’s a lack of confidence to create genuine chances and a lack of fluidity about the performance from both sides.

    Hungary 0-0 Scotland

A nasty studs up challenge on Ryan Fraser leaves the Bournemouth winger in a heap. He'll be fine and Scotland have a chance to swing a free kick in from the right. Callum McGregor's delivery is poor and, not for the first time this evening, the visitors waste a set-piece.

We are lacking confidence, so are Hungary. We have been in good areas but we can't find any good crosses or efforts on goal.

Both sides have made lots of changes, they are trying new personnel and formations so there is a lack of quality out there. The first goal could well win this.

Adam Szalai rises highest to meet a free kick swung into the Scotland penalty area but the header lacks punch and the ball floats into the arms of Allan McGregor.

Have I missed McGinn tearing it up at Hibs? Or have I seen exactly what he is and that's average at best in a poor Hibs squad? It's the latter I think.

A positive thrust from John McGinn but does he take one touch too many before getting a shot away? The effort from the edge of the box is blocked by a lunging defender and the ref spots some shoving as Matt Phillips goes after the scraps.

Will Scotland boss Alex McLeish be happy with the first half of the first half?

No real rhythm or cohesion from his side so far.

We haven't really managed to get Andy Robertson on the ball. He was a key player on Friday night. I thought he was fantastic

  10. Good savepublished at 20 mins

    Hungary 0-0 Scotland

Hungary skipper Balazs Dzsudzsak slips just as he connects with a curling free kick from 22 yards. However, the ball is still traveling towards the top corner and Allan McGregor needs to look lively to push the shot wide.

Scotland string a series of passes together but it's all side to side, not really troubling the home side, who have time to get numbers back.

  12. Better display on patchy pitchpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 27 March 2018

    Hungary 0-0 Scotland

There seems to be more purpose to this Scotland performance and while they haven’t tested Peter Gulacsi, there has been enough to make the Hungary defence look vulnerable.

Players are closing the opposition down quickly which seems to be unsettling the home side.

The one issue is the bumpy pitch which is making passing and control very difficult.

Gergo Lovrencsics hammers in an ambitious shot from 30 yards or so but it's always curling wide of the target.

Hungary don't look comfortable! A straight ball up the middle put them under pressure, it pops up for James Forrest but he could only drag it wide.

Matt Phillips does well to hold the ball up on the edge of the penalty box and prods a pass through to the supporting James Forrest. The Celtic winger takes aim with a low drive but can only steer his angled effort wide.

Another defeat looms. Why no McLean or Christie? All central bias nothing changes.

Hungary were, as you say, dominant in the early '50s but don't forget, Budapest Honved, containing seven of the Hungary team that destroyed England, turned over 3-2 at Molineux by Wolves in 1954!

First corner of the evening goes to Hungary and Allan McGregor is a bit wobbly as he flaps the ball behind. The second delivery is repelled without any fuss.

Scotland have started well in possession and the shape of Hungary is helping. We were led to believe that they would play 4-4-2 but it's 3-4-3 and that helps Scotland out.

We were caught on the break there but luckily it came to nothing.

A quick break from the hosts and Scotland are a little exposed as Charlie Mulgrew slips. The ball is worked to Balazs Dzsudzsak but the Hungary captain doesn't trouble Allan McGregor with a weak shot from 18 yards.

Energetic pressing from Scotland leads to a few panicked passes from the home side but there is no advantage to be had from the flustered defending.
