Ryan Fraser is not a defender and I don't think we expect him to be back in his own third defending that space. So Jack Hendry will have to cover across but he's comfortable doing that in wide areas. He's athletic.

Elliot Menzies, external.... am I the only one thinking we are gubbed on the right side as Forrest is never going to run back in defence ..... he can hardly attack never mind defend
Jok VanGreene, external Big Eck's selection is clearly decided by the media. Failures from last qualification and McGinn. Should have planned an alternative evening for myself.
Adam McCorry, external Apart from playing a striker that's actually a decent line up for once. Might draw 1-1 hopefully
Michael Donati, external Good to see Mcgregor and Mcginn starting together

John Wark was the only Scot to feature in the 1981 movie classic Escape to Victory, starring alongside the likes of Pele, Bobby Moore and Ossie Ardiles as Michael Caine coached and captained a side of Allied prisoners against a 'crack' German side, while Sly Stallone was between the sticks.
But the line-up could have been very different revealed Scotland boss Alex McLeish yesterday.
The match footage from the film was shot in Budapest shortly after that 1980 friendly defeat I mentioned earlier.
“I met Warky and a few of the boys that were in it,” recalled McLeish at yesterday's media conference.
“Big Jock [Stein] had said to us: ‘If anyone wants to stay on and be extras...’ I always regret that film never had a ginger-heided Scotsman in it!”

The teams are out. Scotland in their new yellow change kit...
Smart. A definite upgrade on the previous pink.

I think we'll score tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if this ended up as a 1-1 draw which would be good for Scotland.
We have to be ready for Belgium in September and then the competitive games.
Scotland v Hungary (19:00)
As I've said, there has never been a competitive match between the nations but that could all change fairly soon.
Both Scotland and Hungary are top seeds in their League C groups for the new Uefa Nations League.
The Scots go up against Albania and Israel, while Hungary meet Greece, Finland and Estonia.
The four top ranked sides that have not already qualified for Euro 2020 will enter play-offs for one spot at the tournament.

Training well is all and fine, you can't discount it, but there are lots of players who train well but don't take it on to the pitch. Matt Phillips is untried up front. I can see why you'd look at him, he's big, he's strong and he's quick.
Give him a go, let him have a chance. At least he's an option, or it discounts him for that role.
Scotland v Hungary (19:00)
That's right, Hungary ended their long wait for a major tournament by reaching Euro 2016, which just underlines the feeling that everyone was there apart from Scotland and the Dutch...
That ended a barren run stretching back to the 1986 World Cup for a once mighty footballing power.
Hungary topped their group in France, finishing ahead of eventual winners Portugal, but were trounced by an Eden Hazard-inspired Belgium in the round of 16.
Scotland v Hungary (19:00)
I'm a little upset to see that Gabor Kiraly isn't in goals for Hungary any more.
The 41-year-old has not hung up his distinctive grey trackie bottoms as he continues to play for Haladas, where he started his career.
But he did call it a day at international level after Euro 2016, having amassed a hugely impressive 108 caps.
Zoltan Gera, the former West Brom and Fulham midfielder, is another old-stager who has dropped out of the picture.

Not too many household names in the Hungary squad...
Hoffenheim striker Adam Szalai and Al Wahda winger Balazs Dzsudzsak, the captain who has 21 international goals, are the star men.
Goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi is at RB Leipzig, while Adam Nagy is a midfielder with Bologna.

Ross Stark: No recognised centre forward. What is the point in taking mcburnie or Cummings. Lets play a win ne’er through the middle. Mcleish has not got a clue.
Neil Macfarlane: Stick a striker in there and I’d be happy with that. Hope he doesn’t decide it’s the fault of the SPL players when we fail to score because of having a lumbering West Brom substitute winger up front.

Scotland manager Alex McLeish: "The thinking is to utilise as many of the squad as I could, we are playing some players who had more caps than some of the guys who started on Friday night.
"I wanted some speed and power up front. I don't think it's fair to say that this is my strongest XI, on Friday night we had five new caps. These guys are more attuned to playing with each other.
"We'd love to win. Over my career I'll always take a victory over a bad performance but I'd love to see a good display. We are in a building process, we have to prepare for the Euros when they come around.
"Matt Phillips is very versatile, he's been a fantastic trainer and he looked very effective up front in practice. The pitch is not the best, we'll have to keep our eye on the ball."

That's what these games are about - to have a look at players. These two friendlies should be experimental to allow Alex McLeish to have a look at as many players as he can.
Ryan Fraser has been in squads and had cameo roles to play but we need to see him play. James Forrest is a wide player really so it will be interesting to see how he links up front if that's how they line-up.
Hungary v Scotland (19:00)
It wouldn't be fair on Willie Miller not to mention the 2-0 Scotland success he played in against Hungary in 1987, when Ally McCoist bagged both goals at Hampden.
The teams have never met in a competitive fixture, with Scotland's only other win from eight friendlies coming in 1938 - the same year Hungary were World Cup runners-up for the first time...
There have been two draws, including a 3-3 cracker in Budapest in 1960.
Hungary v Scotland (19:00)
There was a Hampden horror show the last time the nations met, with Scotland falling to a 3-0 friendly defeat in 2004 during the Berti Vogts reign.
It wasn't much better on the last visit to Budapest back in 1980, with Hungary again scoring three. At least Stevie Archibald grabbed a consolation goal.
Scotland boss Alex McLeish was playing that night, along with his old Aberdeen mucker Willie Miller, who will be voicing his forthright opinions on Sportsound as the action unfolds.
He's not the only BBC pundit working tonight with bad memories of the opposition since TV summariser Steven Thompson featured in that 2004 game.

Clearly this is an opportunity for a number of players but John McGinn now has the chance to stamp his presence on this Scotland side as heir apparent to Scott Brown.
On paper, it looks a stronger team with a lot of creativity and attacking purpose. That’s what supporters will be looking for, something to give them hope that Scotland will progress under Alex McLeish.
He’ll look to James Forrest and Callum McGregor to support Matt Phillips up front and put pressure on a Hungary side that is lacking form.
There are a couple of games going on in the Championship this evening as well as action in Leagues One and Two. St Mirren can stretch their 11-point lead at the top, while Dundee United will be aiming to move back into third spot as the play-off race intensifies.

I don't think anyone was expecting so many changes. I would have made three or four, seven is unexpected.
It's a very attacking team, Scotland are going to have a go but I hope we don't get caught short at the back.
