    Stoke 0-2 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

They’re getting out played, so Stoke might as well bring on Peter Crouch, smash it long and win second balls, put pressure on Manchester City in a different way because it has been so comfortable for Komany and Otamendi.

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

There is still half an hour to go. This spell has been brutally efficient from the champions elect. Stoke can't get hold of the ball at all.

  4. CLOSE!published at 59 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

A coconut shy! Leroy Sane now takes aim from 25 yards, bending and bamboozling a shot in from range and it skips past the far post by a ball's width. This could end up four or five nil.

  5. CLOSE!published at 57 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

This is getting silly now. Stoke must have seven defenders inside the area but Raheem Sterling is still able to dribble the ball to within spitting distance of the net. He doesn't know whether to shoot or pass and in the end Jack Butland saves with his feet.

Oleksandr Zinchenko hammers a 25-yarder at Butland before Sterling has a shot deflected away. Pressure dial cranked...

  6. CLOSE!published at 56 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

Nearly three! The wheels are coming off the Stoke bus a bit now as huge gaps open up. Kevin de Bruyne plays in Fernandinho running into the area and if anything he had too much time to weigh up his options before shooting into the side-netting.

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

The TV cameras pick out Peter Crouch in the dugout but if he can come on and win this game for Stoke we'll be talking about commissioning a statue.

  8. 'Game over'published at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2018

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Absolutely brilliant with and without the ball Man City. Sterling wins it back then it's great one touch football. Gabriel Jesus lobs it in and who’s going to get there first, Butland or Silva? Butland spreads himself but Silva pokes it past him.

Weight of pass brilliant from those players. Game over, it's just about how many now.

  9. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Stoke 0-2 Man City

"We're gonna win the league, we're gonna win the league. And now you're gonna believe us..."

The Manchester City fans are in fine voice and we all believe you guys. Don't worry about that.

  10. goal

GOAL - Stoke 0-2 Man Citypublished at 50 mins

    David Silva

A philosophy in practice. Raheem Sterling wins the ball back on the halfway line and in three passes Manchester City cut Stoke in half. The ball is fizzed into David Silva on the edge of the box, he lays it off to Gabriel Jesus, gallops into the area for the return and even though the bounce is hip high he steers it past Jack Butland and in.

    Fabulous goal.

    Stoke 0-1 Man City

Paul Lambert had a spring in his step as he reemerged for the second half. It's only 1-0 and you can press the reset button at half time.

Ederson has only made one save though so far. That has to change.

  12. 'Newcastle loss sealed Pellegrino's fatepublished at 21:03 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2018

    BBC Radio 5 live

    Former Southampton defender Francis Benali:

"It’s something that’s been bubbling away and has been talked about by Southampton fans for a while.

"I think Pellegrino has had a good opportunity to turn things around. It is late in the season, and he perhaps should’ve gone some time back but Southampton have stuck with him. There have been a few must-win games that Southampton haven’t won.

"I think the heavy defeat against Newcastle and the manner of it has sealed his fate. They are thinking is hopefully it’s not too late for someone to come in and turn things around"

So Pellegrino wasn't getting the desired results, add him to the list Southampton. How the board expect to do well when they sell their best players and sack managers that do well (Puel) I will never know. Fast becoming the new Sunderland. The atmosphere is so bad they seem to be doomed, a shame for the fans.

I have to admit Southampton looked particularly poor at the weekend. Who is out there though?

  18. 'Stoke have shown commitment'published at 20:57 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2018

    Stoke 0-1 Man City

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Leicester City & Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

Dominant first half from Manchester City, could’ve been 2-0 if Gabriel Jesus or Nicolas Otamendi got on the end of Kevin de Bruyne’s free kick.

They deserve the lead but Stoke have had a go, shown commitment, desire. It will be a good second half.

    Southampton

Southampton are a point and a place above the relegation zone. They have won once in 17 games.

The owners clearly felt it was now or never to save their season having a very nasty ending.
