  2. England punish a poor France sidepublished at 23:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    England women 4-1 France women

Phil Neville asked for his team to play with confidence and belief and they definitely did that. France were poor defensively but England made the most of that with some slick passing moves in the first half... and some deadly finishing too of course.

  3. Not bad for a beginner...published at 23:02 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

Meanwhile, Phil Neville will be congratulating his players on a job well done.

His first game as Lionesses manager did not go badly for someone with no experience of the women's game, did it?

  4. What's next for England?published at 22:58 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

So, what’s next for Phil Neville’s England? Two more SheBelieves Cup games, that's what...

They play Germany in New Jersey on Sunday (20:00 GMT) and then hosts United States in Orlando on Thursday (00:00 GMT).

I'm pretty sure both of those sides will offer tougher tests than France did tonight - Germany are ranked second in the world and are the Olympic champions, while the US are number one and the world champions.

They are about to meet each other in Ohio, on the same pitch that England just vacated...

France did improve late in the game, so perhaps they deserved this goal - but England were still convincing winners.

And there you have it. England start their SheBelieves Cup campaign, and Phil Neville's reign, with a convincing win over France.

This looked nasty. Karima Benameur comes rushing out of her area to challenge Ellen White - she got the ball but it was a wild challenge. Luckily White is quickly back on her feet.

There will be two minutes of injury time in Ohio, before Phil Neville's first game as Lionesses manager ends in his first win as Lionesses manager.

  9. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 88 mins

Another England change, this time at left-back. Alex Greenwood is on for Demi Stokes to help them see this one out.

  10. Postpublished at 22:46 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

England might have run out of steam a bit of late but it's still been a mightily impressive first game for new manager Phil Neville. He said before the game that some of his critics wanted to see him lose - instead they have watched him mastermind a resounding victory.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 83 mins

A change of goalkeepers by Phil Neville. Carly Telford of Chelsea is on for the final few minutes, replacing Karen Bardsley.

  12. Postpublished at 81 mins

France have definitely improved since making those changes and England are having to work a bit harder to keep them at bay, helped by a couple of poor crosses by their opponents.

Less than 10 minutes left for Phil Neville's side to see this one out, and they still have a three-goal cushion of course.

Yorkshire Beer: It's hard to believe that France have been so poor defensively and are getting hammered. Has Wenger been coaching them? England have been very good and a good start for Phil Neville in his first game. Asante injury has been an unlucky moment

  14. goal

GOAL England women 4-1 France womenpublished at 77mins

    (Gaetane Thiney)

Ok, maybe I asked for this with what I wrote on 75 minutes...

England are punished for a period of sloppy play when Gaetane Thiney makes space for a shot from 25 yards out and sees her effort spin off Millie Bright and fly past a wrong-footed Karen Bardsley.

  16. CLOSE!published at 75 mins

France makes another change, with Valerie Gauvin replacing the ineffective Ouleymata Sarr - and she almost makes an instant impact, sending a header flashing wide of Karen Bardsley's left-hand post.

Fair to say that Bardsley has not been busy so far. She would probably welcome some action down her end of the field.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 72 mins

    England women 4-0 France women

Two of England's goalscorers are going off.

Izzy Christiansen replaces Fran Kirby and Ellen White is on for Toni Duggan.

We are into the last 20 minutes in a wet and windy Ohio - where England are blowing France away.

  18. 'Remember that England are missing key players'published at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2018

    England women 4-0 France women

    Sue Smith
Former England forward on BBC Red Button

You have got to remember that England are missing key players like their captain Steph Houghton, plus Jordan Nobbs and Kaz Carney, who would have started.

They are three real important players that England are missing, yet they are putting in a really good performance against a top nation.

  19. Postpublished at 68 mins

The goals might have dried up (for now) but England are still creating chances. Demi Stokes does brilliantly down the left to make room for a cross - but her whipped delivery eludes Jodie Taylor, who was arriving at pace in the middle.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    England women 4-0 France women

Gaetane Thiney, one of the French subs, has a useful turn of pace and might give England more to think about at the back. She replaced the injured Faustine Robert.

France's other change saw Kadidiatou Diani come off and Viviane Asseyi come on.
