What is Watford's Plan B then? Because Plan A was ripped up almost instantly.

Liverpool continue on the front front, Joe Gomez surging into the box from deep. Watford clear out only as far as Mo Salah on the right, his cross hacked clear.

You can't believe he Salah has been allowed that space. Watford were warned eleven seconds before. They allow him to be in a one-on-one, it breaks down and he does it again. Turns two defenders inside out and finds the net, what a goal, what a fabulous goal!

He is like Lionel Messi when he runs at you with the ball, his balance is exceptional.

Mo Salah is back on the prowl, springing clear in-between the lines to latch onto Jordan Henderson's piercing pass. Luckily for the hosts the Egyptian sets off a touch too early and is off.

    Liverpool 1-0 Watford

Watford must have watched Salah do that on video umpteen times during their match prep. You can't, just can't, let him have that much space.

    Mo Salah

Oh. Not the start Watford had in mind.

Miguel Britos gets isolated by Mo Salah in the right channel of the box, the Liverpool forward twisting and turning like he's doin' the jive.

Britos ends up on his backside as Salah drills in from a tight angle.

Roberto Firmino looks bemused by the weather. I imagine you don't get this in Maceio - the tropical Brazilian city where he was born. Nicknamed the "The Paradise of Waters" apparently. I thought that was the Mersey?

Anyway... Watford go into a quick huddle and they are going to get the game under way...

Ooooh we love a good stat...

Liverpool have won nine of their 10 top-flight home games against Watford, losing the other in the Hornets' first Premier League visit there.

"I love how much we have developed and improved as a team and a club since then," says Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in his match programme notes as he reflects on the 3-3 draw at Watford on the opening day of the season.

Plenty of Irish green, white and orange splashed around Anfield before kick-off. Liverpool, of course, has historically had a big population of those from across the Irish Sea.

I'd recommend a few pre-match pints of Guinness. A beer jacket is necessary in this weather.

Watford manager Javi Gracia: "I know Anfield is very difficult for us, but we are looking forward to the match.

"I know if we play an open game against Liverpool, we have a lot of chances to lose the game.

"So we need to have a balance to be able to defend, but we need to attack as well - if you play this match only thinking about defending, you are going to lose for sure."

Are Watford still in a relegation battle? The Hornets are buzzing away up in tenth in the Premier League table, eight points clear of the drop zone.

Javi Gracia has made a fruitful start to life in England, winning three of his past five games, something the Spaniard will be hoping to continue in the final eight matches of the season.

He won't want to do a Walter Mazzarri, who picked up fewer points than an ultra-cautious driver in last season's run-in.

And with some eminently-winnable home games left - including Bournemouth, Palace and Newcastle, who are all below them in the table - Hornets fans should be confident of easing to safety.
