Dave: All those teams that sat off City this season should be ashamed of their caution. City's Achilles heel is their defence as Liverpool have shown twice now this season

Donald: I think this was Liverpool's game plan. Counter attack in the fast half. Contain in the second half. Got to save some energy for the upcoming demanding fixtures.

Dejan Lovren heads yet another ball away. He's looked a very different man from the guy hauled off and embarrassed by Spurs at Wembley tonight.

Four minutes of normal time left. Liverpool are so very, very deep now...

  4. YELLOW CARD - Henderson suspendedpublished at 21:32 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Jordan Henderson chops down Raheem Sterling in a poor challenge and Sterilng reacts with a kick of his own. Henderson is booked and will MISS the second leg.

    No Henderson, no Salah?

  5. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 21:30 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Ooooohhh! Leroy Sane is not offside there - flagged off, but on - as he puts over a cross which is converted by Gabriel Jesus.

Flash back to the fact that Mo Salah was offside when he opened the scoring. Both very tight calls, but that could have been a big moment...

Absolutely one way stuff as Kevin de Bruyne bends in a beautiful ball behind the Liverpool defence but instead of David Silva finding the net he can only shovel an awkward connection into the back of a man in red.

    Luis Suarez (87 mins)

HE'S DONE IT. Luis Suarez has his first Champions League goal in over a year.

Denis Suarez (no relation) plays a cross which is miscontrolled to Luis - and the Uruguay striker slams the ball home from 14 yards out.

Just another four goals needed for him to catch own goals...

Tim: Tom, you're quite right that City could do with Edin Dzeko - just as I bet Roma are wishing that they had held on to Mo Salah!

Matt: Even a half fit Aguero would have been good now. City don't have the striker who can come on late and change the game.

  10. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 21:26 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Raheem Sterling takes on Andrew Robertson and beats him, Robertson makes a bold call to slide in and Sterling wants a penalty! For a foul, or for handball as the Scot slid through.

Nothing given, and Kevin de Bruyne is booked for chopping down Sadio Mane on the break.

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Manchester City are 18 points ahead of Liverpool in the Premier League and can win the title at the weekend. But they may have given themselves too much to do here UNLESS they can find a goal in the last 10 minutes.

They haven't looked like doing so yet. Now's the time to shine.

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:23 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Gabriel Jesus is booked for kicking the ball away which rather sums up his ineffectual night up top. He may only have just turned 21, but let's not forget that he'll lead the line for Brazil at this summer's World Cup. He's a big game player alright.

Liverpool are getting back in numbers, protecting the penalty area and the widemen tucking in. If City do score it will likely come from a cross out wide.

GOAL - Barcelona 3-1 Romapublished at 21:20 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Edin Dzeko (80 mins)

Maybe it's not all over yet. Roma have an away goal.

Diego Perotti plays a low cross, substitute Stephan el Shaarawy holds off his marker and lets the ball run to Edin Dzeko, who slams past Marc-Andre ter Stegen - who has made a couple of good saves in the last few minutes.

  16. Sloppy Citypublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Anfield

Manchester City seeing much more of the ball in this half but their final approach has been too sloppy and there have been very few serious alarms for Liverpool so far.

  17. Postpublished at 21:19 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

I'm very loathe to describe this wonderful Manchester City side as 'clueless', but they don't seem to have any answer to unlocking Liverpool at the moment.

One away goal would change the complexion of the tie but at the risk of repeating myself too much, City are yet to have an effort on target.

    Into the last 20 minutes.

Good play Dom Solanke! He chases a lost cause and somehow manages to cut the ball back into the middle. Sadio Mane is there for number four but Kyle Walker does brilliantly to get across and block him out.

Dubsguy: Dangerous from Liverpool this. Allowing City far too much time on the ball.

Ash: City again have had 15 mins of possession and they’ve done nothing with it.

David: If Liverpool sit back, City will score. This tie could well be decided by away goal. Attack and attack you Reds.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:16 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

Here comes Dominic Solanke up front for Liverpool. Roberto Firmino looks unhappy about coming off but he's just ran out of gas. A typical 100mph performance from him.
