Anon: Don't want to jinx him but the more I see the lad Robertson and hear him I see a future Captain of the Club. He has that Hansen quality about him.

Ashraf: I think this game so far sealed the debate about who’s the player of this season.. Mo doubt now!

Steven: The game that apparently decides the PFA player of the year. Congratulations Mr. James Milner.

Dejan Lovren is angry for himself as he concedes a corner but it's OK as far as he's concerned, it comes to nothing.

Midpoint of the second half. Kevin de Bruyne is swallowed up again by the excellent Trent Alexander-Arnold. The home crowd raise it a notch.

City almost put Leroy Sane in behind the Liverpool defence for once but Trent Alexander-Arnold engages the warp drive and somehow gets back to toe it clear. Then City almost paint one of their pretty pictures inside the area but David Silva is offside.

Surely Manchester City won't get through 90 minutes without a single effort on target?

    Barcelona 3-0 Roma

Lionel Messi tries a fantastically ambitious volley as a corner is played directly to him but it flies over the bar.

We might have had to revisit the great Champions League goals had that gone in.

Into the final half hour. Is there an away goal on the cards? Raheem Sterling has his first touch at the back stick but he's flagged offside.

His financial motivations are being questioned by the home crowd.

Charlie: Robertson and Alexander-Arnold have done well down both flanks. Worried Sterling is bit more of a handful.

Javel: Liverpool have already taken their foot off the pedal. This will have only one outcome. 35 long minutes to go

Richard: Salah off changes the game entirely; Lallana injury now doubly bad.

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

It's a whole new ball game out there now, Liverpool massed in numbers around the ball carrier, funneling City into danger and protecting that lead very well.City have had 79% of the second half possession but has Senor Savage says, they are still to have a single effort on target.

With the introduction of Sterling, De Bruyne can go back alongside Fernandinho. It's another test for Robertson, he has done well so far.

City look a bit better but haven't been a threat. Karius still yet to make a save

Raheem Sterling has started out wide right. Liverpool are penned in a touch, and there's no Mo Salah to turn long balls into great balls now. Could be a long half hour for the home fans.

    Barcelona 3-0 Roma

Barcelona have made their own little piece of history tonight. They are the first team to ever have five own goals scored for them in a Champions League season. Not as if they have any difficulty scoring their own goals...

Roma are just the fourth side in Champions League history to score two own goals in a single game and the first since Galatasaray in September 2015 against FC Astana.

    Liverpool 3-0 Man City

It's a much slower tempo to the second half, which is a relief to most out there I would imagine. City having a good spell now and Kevin de Bruyne's cross is a good one and it's well cleared by Trent Alexander-Arnold. Ilkay Gundogan then has a shot deflected wide. You can hear the away end for the first time as the pressure begins to build...

You wonder how bad that groin injury might be for Mo Salah.

He has walked off, so it could be precautionary, but potentially a huge blow to Liverpool

GOAL - Barcelona 3-0 Romapublished at 20:59 British Summer Time 4 April 2018

    Gerard Pique (59 mins)

One hour into the first leg and Barcelona can start thinking about the semi-finals. And they actually score this goal themselves.

Lionel Messi finds Luis Suarez, who forces a good low save from Alisson Becker. Unfortunately the Brazilian parries the ball to centre-back Gerard Pique, who loves a random trip to the opposition area, and he taps into an empty net from about three yards out.

Briyan: A Liverpool team 3-0 at HT, can't say the tie is over. Could be Crystal Palace all over again... they got Van Dijk though

Jay: What's all the doubt? Am fully trusting Liverpool to see this one out! Go Reds!
