    What a save!

Samir Handanovic has had zip to do all game but the first time he is called into action he produces the goods in stunning fashion.

Hakan Calhanoglu's in-swinging free-kick is flicked towards the far post and Handanovic is down quickly to push away with an outstretched glove.

Former Chelsea winger Clive Walker on teammate Ray Wilkins:

The guy was honest, and a pleasure to play with. I missed him when he left Chelsea for Manchester United because his range of passing was unique, he could do it with both feet, and he was so well-balanced. To play with he was a fabulous footballer, way above his generation.

He was the type of guy that would put his arm around you if you felt you needed it, have a go at you if you feel you needed it. He had this character and understanding that not everyone was the same and treated everyone as they should be.

He was the type of guy, even after I retired that if you wanted to have a chat with him he had the time for everyone and seemed really interested in whatever you talked about. The type of guy you could also call, ask for a hand and he would always be there.

This is the welcome the City coach will get as it approaches Anfield and it appears the Liverpool fans have ignored the police request not to bring pyrotechnics because the air is thick from the smoke of flares and several fireworks have already been let off.

There has been a heavy police presence outside the ground since around 17:00 BST and they are having their work cut out to keep the road clear.

Former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton on Ray Wilkins:

I’m devastated. I did a couple of theatre shows with Ray a couple of weeks ago. I hadn’t seen him in a while and he was in good form, we had some fun and reminisced about the old days. To suddenly hear this is doubly hard to take because of that.

I think he loved football, loved playing football. He was a connoisseur, a great passer of the a ball. A leader in his own way off the pitch, If things were going on off the pitch he would get involved. On the social side, he would be there when we could have a drink between games. He would come down, have a laugh, tell stories and he was one of the boys as well.

He was honest too, we know he had a bit of a dark time in the past few years, but he admitted to it and that takes a lot of courage, and to overcome that even more so.

Ray Wilkins's first taste of playing football outside his native England came in 1984, when he joined AC Milan from Manchester United.

The midfielder made 74 Serie A appearances for the Italian giants who, according to the club's official website, was 'appreciated for his long-range and accurate shots and for his exemplary correctness.'

Wilkins was interviewed about his time in Italy by early morning 1990s TV gold Football Italia and this is what he had to say:

"It was an immense time for me. The first derby is something that will always stand out in my memory. We arrived at the ground around 90 minutes before kick off, I couldn't see any fans and I remember saying to a few guys 'where are the supporters?' and they said 'don't worry about the supporters'. We got in the ground to see what the pitch was like and it was full - 85,000 inside an hour and a half before kick off. It was blue and black at one end, red and black at the other end and smoke meeting in the middle. It was something quite fantastic."

Yep, the sad news this afternoon is the fact that former England and Chelsea midfielder Ray Wilkins has died in hospital at the age of 61.

His family thanked "Ray's friends, colleagues and members of the public" for the many messages of goodwill.

Chelsea said they were "devastated to learn of the passing of our former player, captain and assistant coach".
