Eden Hazard and Willian combine to do just that - add some spark!

A lovely one-two between Morata and Hazard sets up a chance for Willian but Joe Hart is quick off his line to snuff out danger and make a vital save.

The game is lacking a bit of spark at the moment. Will somebody step-up to the plate and bring a bit of spice?

The hosts certainly have the quality but every time Marko Arnautovic gets near the ball, he's asking questions of the Chelsea defence.

Conte keeps talking about how difficult it will be to catch Spurs for a top four finish being as we are, 11 points adrift. Maybe he needs to look at the table again. Forget Spurs - Liverpool are mathematically closer as we have two games in hand on them and win both of those, we will only be five points behind them. Still a tough cause but let's at least look to catch the right team!

This is why I wonder why Willian and Eden Hazard didn't play at the start of the season, because it was those two and Diego Costa last season, and they were brilliant. So to change the formation this season, and shoehorn Tiemoue Bakayoko into a three-man midfield, was a real mistake.

As you can see from the two heatmaps, Chelsea (on the left) are enjoying a lot more possession and are playing the ball around nicely from side-to-side.

West Ham are largely chasing shadows and have been penned into their own half for the last 15 minutes.

  6. CLOSE!published at 31 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 West Ham

Chelsea are edging closer and closer.

A neat corner routine is carried out and the ball comes out to Willian on the edge of the area.

He leans back and curls the ball towards Joe Hart's left post but it flies past the wrong side and out for a goal kick.

Eden Hazard and Willian are the two key players. They've got pace and power, and a trick to go past players. It's a nice ball in from Hazard, and Alvaro Morata can't do much more than attempt a backheel on goal. It would have been a goal of the season contender had it come off.

  8. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    Chelsea 0-0 West Ham

Eden Hazard plays a lovely one-two on the edge of the box before poking it along the goalmouth where Alvaro Morata is stood waiting.

It's slightly behind him but the Spaniard improvises and flicks it towards the back post. Joe Hart is nowhere but the ball rolls inches wide.

You've got to wonder if Antonio Conte knows he's leaving, is his heart really in it? It doesn't look like it, he's nothing like he was last season, and that translates onto the players, too.

Chelsea foul several players in the middle of the pitch but referee Kevin Friend plays advantage.

Edmilson Fernandes has space to run into on the right but he panics and loses the ball.

Willian has had 22 touches, two shots on goal and has played a key pass already in this game so far.

  12. 'Outstanding Willian'published at 16:56 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    Chelsea 0-0 West Ham

Willian is an outstanding player, he's got great technique, he scores goals, he creates assists. If I was Chelsea manager he'd be in my team every week.

Marko Arnautovic, who has been up the pitch on his own for most of the game so far, tracks back to carry out his defensive duties and win a goal kick for West Ham.

Fabulous football. It's a lovely dummy from Eden Hazard, who then slips the ball to Alvaro Morata, who's at least a yard offside. But that's what Chelsea can do to teams.

An excellent decision from Kevin Friend as the referee whistles for offside as Alvaro Morata pokes the ball through the legs of Joe Hart.

The striker was inches offside but Eden Hazard was the Chelsea man who once again created something from nothing with a quick turn of pace and a neat pass.

The Hammers are looking to play it long to Marko Arnautovic at any opportunity and they are usually succeeding.

But this time he's barged out of the way by Gary Cahill.

Alvaro Morata has struggled to get into the game so far. He's had touches all around the pitch but hasn't been able to do much with it.

Eden Hazard and Willian are pulling the strings for Chelsea at the moment and it's those two who look most likely to score.

  18. 'Unlucky deflection'published at 16:52 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    Chelsea 0-0 West Ham

Great cut back and cruyff turn from Willian. I think Joe Hart would have stopped it, until it deflected off Aaron Cresswell, and looped in the other direction. Hart looked on despairingly at that moment.

Willian has been excellent so far and he turns sharply, deceiving Aaron Cresswell before getting a strike off in the box.

It takes a big deflection and sails out for a corner before Cesar Azpilicueta heads over from the set-piece.
