    Arsenal 3-2 Southampton

    Arsenal

More from Arsene Wenger speaking to Sky Sports: "We were in difficult situations in the game twice and we found the resources to win. It was out of control at the end which was surprising but we had the spirit. When your legs don't respond as you want we still had the mental qualities.

"I am surprised Elneny was sent off, I know him very well and he is not an aggressive, out of control player. I haven't seen it back, there were four or five players in front of me.

"Danny Welbeck was outstanding today, that shows that when he is fit he comes back to his levle, I have said that many times.

"Reiss Nelson showed in glimpses that he has big potential. He played a bit within himself and didn't take enough risks. One thing he lacked was a bit of freedom to do what he can do.

"At the start of the game people were impatient in the crowd but at the end when it became more lively the crowd were behind the team.

"We want to win every game, every win makes you stronger, the players know that. When you come to the Emirates you see football and you see goals. That's what we want to give to the fans."

  2. 'The spirit in this team'published at 17:24 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    FT: Arsenal 3-2 Southampton

    Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, speaking to BBC Sport: "It's not easy because we played against a team who fights not to go down, mentally it is very difficult. Some of our players had heavy legs but we still won the game when we were questioned, I really like the spirit in this team.

"Every game you win makes you stronger, it's important that you keep your run going. We have gone through a difficult spell, but because the players are proud we came back. Now we hope to keep this going.

"I think I have repeated that I really like Danny Welbeck, I am very pleased for him because he is a guy who went through a very difficult time and has shown exceptional mental strength to come back."

  3. 'We're disappointed'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    FT: Arsenal 3-2 Southampton

    Southampton

More from Mark Hughes, speaking to Sky Sports: "We were quite content to let them have the ball, they didn't create much of note and we always looked like scoring on the break. We took a good chance and could have added to it.

"Then we're disappointed because they score twice in two attempts and get lucky with the second. We went in at half-time a little aggrieved, we had to roll up our sleeves though and we showed real intent and got the equaliser. Clearly having then got back on level terms we needed to be resilient in terms of getting something out of the game, we weren't able to do that.

"But we showed a lot of character - that was important for me and the fans. It was a committed performance. In terms of a performance I am more than happy with that."

Southampton manager Mark Hughes, speaking to Sky Sports: "We came here with a gameplan and you can see the benefit of having a clear week to prepare. For the most part I am delighted with how they executed what we wanted them to do.

"We conceded poor goals, that's the story of our season. We showed real intent and purpose in the second half and got back on level terms but we needed to see the game out. That has been a problem all season.

"We have to take points from every game we play now. Performances like today will help our confidence. We have no fear, we will give it a go and you can see there is plenty of fight in the team.

"I've no qualms with Jack Stephens being sent-off, you can't react like that but Wilshere should have gone too."

West Ham are losing this game 1-0 with a bit of a whimper to be honest. They really haven't offered enough - they may as well lose 3-0 - because all they need is points.

  18. 'Defensive nightmare'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 8 April 2018

    Chelsea 1-0 West Ham

    Danny Mills

It's a defensive nightmare. A short corner again and no-one gets out to the cross, and no-one gets tight to Cesar Azpilicueta who pokes home. But just before that, Joe Hart made a great save with his feet, after great play from Eden Hazard and Willian again - they've been Chelsea's best players today.
