"West Brom are a good team and don't deserve to be that low in the league."

On watching the game with his family, including a big United fan:

"It shows how football is lived in Manchester as we have Reds in the family and Blues but today was a day for the Blues. It is banter. It's been a great day."

On winning his third Premier League title:

"You can't take (winning the league) for granted, I've won three now but there's so many we've missed. My team-mates will roll their eyes as I want to see the reaction from us next season as I've never been able to retain a title.

"My favourite title is the first one. That was special."

On having Pep as a manager:

"I have learnt from him. When I was 20 I would have been a perfect player for him. Everyone that plays under him will have had success because of him, because he has the ability to unlock the full potential."

Let's not forget about West Brom's achievements today.

It may well be too little too late for the Baggies, but they're not going down without a fight.

Darren Moore has a win and a draw as caretaker boss, which is more than former manager Alan Pardew managed in 18 games.

Manchester City have won the Premier League title with five games remaining - equalling the English top-flight record.

Manchester United (1907-08 and 2000-01) and Everton (1984-85) all won the top-flight title with five games to spare.

Manchester City have deserved it. Their brand of football this season has been scintillating.

They've scored more goals and they have a brilliant manager.

Their football on the eye has been superb and they've been streaks ahead of everyone else.

Old Trafford was a Theatre of Nightmares this afternoon.

You'd think they'd back the derby win up with a strong performance.

But they've handed the title to City on a platter.

Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata speaking to Sky Sports: "I think there's no excuses. It was a bad day for everyone and a bad result. We're disappointed and we understand the fans' situation. It was a slow game and we didn't play well at all.

"After last week we wanted to keep going with the same spirit. We didn't' create enough chances. They are fighting for survival but there's no excuses."

On handing City the title: "It hurts. Basically we didn't do our job today which was winning. Our aim is to keep second position and it's not done yet. Today was a bad day and we need to move on.

"We had a few days to rest and prepare but football is unpredictable and sometimes things happen. We're sad and disappointed with ourselves."

Jose Mourinho also suggested some of his players got carried away by last week's 3-2 win at Manchester City.

He said: "Probably because I won eight championships, I was not over the moon with the victory against them (City) because that doesn’t make me feel super happy and in my opinion affected for sure some of the people that was too happy."
