    Manchester United

Jose Mourinho to BBC: “It was a bad reaction after the City victory, the consequence of that is complicated football. Some players think it is stylish football. We were a complicated team and let them feel comfortable.

“To win against Manchester City was not a title for me, for me it was a good three points to try and finish second, top four at least,.

"We have proven today it was important because it compensates for the three we lost today. I was not going to celebrate like crazy, for me we should play with great focus and intensity and try and kill the top four situation and be more stable in second.

“City were the best team, sooner or later they would get the points, so no dramas when the best team wins the league.”

James, Liverpool fan: Big congratulations to Man City, the best team by far over the entire premier league season!

Jon, Liverpool: United have robbed City of their moment of glory. Like double faulting on match point in the Wimbledon final. Utd have zero class, disgraceful.

    West Bromwich Albion

West Brom caretaker coach Darren Moore to BBC: "We played against a really formidable team today, asked a lot of questions, but everyone worked hard and did their jobs.

"I'm proud for players and staff and way they have acquitted themselves today.

"Only way we can achieve results moving forward is with togetherness. I want the players to express themselves, show the outside world what good players they are. I am pleased we managed to show everyone that today."

On being the next Baggies boss: "I am looking at the next game, we have come here today, got a positive result, I am just focusing on the team and performances."

Jose Mourinho has been speaking in his press conference about whether Manchester United can challenge Manchester City next season.

"I trust in my work. Eight titles. Three Premier League. Last not 20 years ago, it was three. I know how to win. I believe in myself. You don't win titles with inconsistency. You need consistency at every level. The mental level, day by day."

In case you're just joining us and you're wondering what on earth is going on...

Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions for the third time in seven years!

Their title was confirmed after Manchester United's shock 1-0 home defeat by West Brom this afternoon.

Second-place United are now 16 points behind Pep Guardiola's side with only five games left to play.

  6. United 'desperately flat'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 15 April 2018

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 live

    That was desperately flat today.

It's a tall order for United to even win the FA Cup and if they don't, it's the same old story.

  7. 'Masters in complication'published at 18:16 British Summer Time 15 April 2018

    Manchester United 0-1 West Brom

    Manchester United

Jose Mourinho to Sky Sports: "We were masters in complication, everything was complicated.

"We didn't want or played simple, everything was slow, one more flick, trick, turn. There was no fluidity. We did not deserve to lose, we gave them opportunity to win the match.

On United's complacency after the derby win: "I won eight titles and I am not on the moon because I won against Manchester City.

"I saw lots of people in the moon because we won against City. You could see the difference in the attitude to players compared to last week."

"We deserve top be punished, but the defeat was too heavy."

On City's title win: "I have won titles, I would not be happy if someone say won title if someone lose a match. City won the title because they won more points than everyone else, not tell City they won title because United did not win, it is not fair on them."

Aaron Lowrey: Congratulations Manchester City! Realistically the title was theirs since before Christmas almost. But next year? I think Liverpool in particular will give them a run for their money

AJ: We may be Championship bound, but it just goes to show the fine lines between the setup of a team, game management and attitude. All of it was top class on this occasion!

Phil Arundell: So Mourinho has kept up his record of winning the title in his second season. Unfortunately for him, he won it for City this year

West Brom goalscorer Jay Rodriguez to Sky Sports: "Everyone stuck together. Darren Moore has got us working, it's clicking and a great feeling.

"This is a game you always look forward to at Old Trafford, it is the biggest club in the world, to score here is amazing and the buzz I feel for how hard we've worked is amazing to me."

Speaking after a charge that he had racially abused Brighton defender Gaetan Bong was found "not proven" by the Football Association, Rodriguez added: "It has been horrendous for me and my family.

  14. 'West Brom's best performance of the season'published at 18:04 British Summer Time 15 April 2018

    Manchester United 1-0 West Brom

    Martin Keown
Former Arsenal defender on BBC Radio 5 live

Congratulations to City they've been the far better team this season. Ironic for United to lose to bottom of the table but City won't care about that.

Guardiola has probably just finished his golf round. This season they have been outstanding with De Bruyne the best player in the league.

It was very dour today. Should Herrera have been starting over someone like Martial?

This was by far West Brom's best performance of the season but I don't believe they'll stay up.

Ash Williams: We all knew City were going to be champions but for Utd to concede at home to West Brom? Shocking.

Michael Scarn: Well at least it'll be a nice memory for West Brom when they plummet into League One next season.

Matthew Burrows: And not the first time it's happened this season either. See Swansea's win over Liverpool. Maybe teams are tired from the effort of beating Man City?
