Virgil van Dijk was briefly down nursing an ankle knock causing Liverpool fans to fret about any of their star players picking up an injury here ahead of Tuesday’s semi-final.

However, Mo Salah, especially, is playing like he hasn’t got a care in the world. The Egyptian has a smile on his face here at The Hawthorns.

He is riding tackles like a hot knife through butter. Never mind being wrapped up in cotton wool, he is toying with the West Brom defence like he’s dangling a ball of wool over a basket of kittens.

After a stressful five minute spell for the visitors, Liverpool are back in control.

Danny Ings has a brilliant chance to net his second of the match, as he's set up by Mo Salah inside the box, but Ben Foster makes himself big to stop the danger.

All three of those corners were excellent and West Brom just needed someone to attack the ball. It doesn't seem that they have anyone capable of attacking the ball from set pieces.

A let off for Liverpool.

SO CLOSE. And so much better from West Brom.

Jake Livermore finds Jake McClean at the back post and he sends a powerful strike across goal.

Jay Rodriguez goes so close to poking it home but he couldn't get the vital touch.

That's three corners now - two from Matt Phillips and one on the flipside from Chris Brunt - that have gone through the waiting bodies in the box.

Darren Moore holds his head in his hands as he sees them all come to nothing.

West Brom finally see a bit of action and earn their second corner.

It's a pretty woeful effort from Matt Phillips and it evades all his team-mates.

They'll have another go though, as Joe Gomez has now knocked it out of play again.

Liverpool look comfortable so far. West Brom are huffing and puffing when they come forward, but with no real quality.

This is pretty pedestrian from Liverpool now.

They're playing keep ball in their own half and West Brom can't get close to chasing them down.

Urgency definitely required from the hosts, given their precarious position in the league.

Referee Stuart Attwell needs to have a word with Salomon Rondon, after the West Brom striker goes tumbling into Liverpool goalscorer Danny Ings, with his studs showing.

No yellow card, just a ticking off for Rondon. It's probably his last warning, mind.

West Brom have shown quite a lot of spirit to try and get back into this game. Matt Phillips looks a handful and Salomon Rondon has played well so far but I think Jay Rodriguez needs to show more.

Another foul on Mohamed Salah, this time by Kieran Gibbs, earns Liverpool another free-kick.

It's a bit further out this time. Salah and James Milner stand over it again.

This time Milner whips it in and it's cleared by Craig Dawson.

Ooof.

Mo Salah bends the free-kick with his left foot and it falls just wide of the target. Baggies keeper Ben Foster chased it anyway, as it looked like it could creep in.

Jake Livermore loses his footing and gifts the ball to James Milner, who gets a whipped ball into the box but it's got too much on it.

International team-mates Mo Salah and Ahmed Hegazi take a tumble together and Liverpool are awarded a free-kick in a dangerous position about 25 yards out.

Matt Phillips tests Loris Karius but his shot isn't strong enough to really test the Reds keeper.

West Brom are very much lacking the edge up front, as they have done all season.

Liverpool are causing problems on the left.

Mane is fed by Moreno and Milner falls over as he lofts the ball on to Mo Salah on the other side of the box.

West Brom manage to clear their lines again.

That was much better by West Brom and they’ll be encouraged by that last bit of play. Matt Phillips produced a good cross into the Liverpool box during that passage and there are promising signs for the hosts.
