The final stats sum up the game nicely. Even stuff, shared territory but one side with more quality than the other.

Everton have now lost just once in seven league games.

Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee embrace. The last seconds of the game saw Scott Malone have a sight of goal from inside the box, only for the ball to deflect over the bar.

That kind of sums Huddersfield up. Plenty of effort but no quality where it matters.

  5. Bullying the lower teams...published at 16:50 British Summer Time 28 April 2018

    Huddersfield 0-2 Everton

This will be Everton's 13th win of the season. All 13 have come against sides below them in the league. Maybe that builds on Andy's point in our last post.

Andy Rudd: Have a look at the teams that Allardyce has beaten, which of those teams should Everton not be beating? How did he do against the top teams? Battered by Spurs, battered by Arsenal, and couldn’t beat Liverpool when they had the least interest in a derby I have ever seen.

In comes a long throw from Huddersfield. They are trying the more industrial route and it nearly works as a scramble sees Laurent Depoitre almost latch onto a ball 12 yards out. Hacked away.

Oumar Niasse is having his name chanted by the Everton contingent after chasing a lost cause.

Huddersfield look lost now. Grumpy faces, a lack of ideas and no real impetus. They force a corner which is floated just beyond Christopher Schindler. Laurent Depoitre swings at an effort in the area and it's blocked.

    Idrissa Gueye

Turn out the lights, this one is done.

Oumar Niasse does well near the corner flag and curls a ball over to the back stick. There are few defenders back as Huddersfield chase the game and Leighton Baines has space to just set Idrissa Gueye up 20 yards out. He has an age and drives low into the corner. Jonas Lossl dives to his left but can't get there.

Bingo for Everton. Sam Allardyce and Sammy Lee celebrate. David Wagner looks a bit lost.

With Southampton still ahead, Huddersfield are slipping closer to the bottom three. Their final three games are against Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal too.

    Oumar Niasse replaces Cenk Tosun.

Aaron Mooy has been the busiest player on the field with 62 touches. His latest one sees him fizz a ball into Steve Mounie on the edge of the box. The ball gets caught under the striker's feet and Seamus Coleman races back to steal it from him.

Better stuff from Huddersfield as they free Rajiv van La Parra down the right. He takes a touch, lifts the head and delivers low for Alex Pritchard at the near post. It's a good chance but Pritchard swings at it and doesn't make contact. He got a touch carried away at the critical moment.
