GOAL: Huddersfield 0-1 Evertonpublished at 39 mins

    Cenk Tosun

I may use the term smash and grab - I was just looking and prior to this, Everton have had one touch in the Huddersfield area.

They will not care a jot. A good break away, the pace of Walcott coming in off the left flank providing the fuel behind it.

He kept his feet under a challenge and fed Cenk Tosun, who had a lot to do from 18 yards with the angle narrowing.

He goes low across the keeper with his right peg. It's not a thunderbolt but it's so accurate that the dive can't get there. It nestles low in the corner. A fine finish.

Wayne Rooney is back on the edge of his area to throw himself at a ball - brave block. He's perhaps exhausted when he gets the chance to feed Theo Walcott on the break moments later, giving the ball away in a moment of frustration.

Everton have come under next to no threat - which Sam Allardyce will no doubt point to - but they've also posed none of their own.

Scrappy here at Huddersfield but the home team's work-rate is prodigious. They are pressing Everton with great intensity but require more composure when they get into dangerous positions.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Everton

You can almost see how Everton are struggling for a focal point if we look at the average positions players have taken up so far.

Seamus Coleman (23) is currently their most advanced player on average and he's supposedly a full-back.

Sam Allardyce is on the touchline and doesn't look a bit happy.

For all those non Evertonians that question why we're not happy with Allardyce, this is why! 25 minutes gone, plenty of possession and not a single shot on goal! That's one shot on goal in the last two games. Terrible approach to playing football. Have a shot at goal!

  6. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 30 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Everton

The busiest minute of the game as Rajiv van La Parra looks to latch onto a pull-back and goes down under the challenge of Nikola Vlasic. He wants a penalty as it's just inside the box but Lee Probert says no.

There was a brief tangle but the Huddersfield man went down in instalments. Seconds later he's up and smashes an Alex Pritchard pull-back over the bar from 18 yards. That's the best opening we've seen.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Everton

Theo Walcott is on the left flank today and his first run at pace causes a few desperate challenges as Huddersfield players take to the deck. The move breaks down and does so again as Wayne Rooney tries a clever flick behind the defence.

Everton though build a third attack and a fine Seamus Coleman cross is hacked for a corner. The corner is cleared and Rooney ultimately tries a volley from 35 yards which floats wide.

It's not a classic so far at the John Smiths but Huddersfield are at least starting to rev up a little bit.

Seamus Coleman the busiest player on the pitch with 25 touches down the Everton right.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Everton

The game is largely being played in the Everton half. That will thrill fans who say they have become negative under Sam Allardyce.

Rajiv van La Parra tries to take things into his own hands and launches on a run down the left, taking Seamus Coleman on in a race of speed and power. They go shoulder to shoulder and a corner is won.

It's a short one, teeing up Terence Kongolo for a shot... three points. High and over the sticks.

This is very much a midfield battle and when I say battle, I mean one void of any quality. A shot from range deflects and dribbles into the hands of Jordan Pickford - that's our first effort of the game.

Everton deliver low into the box, hacked away at the near post. I can tell you Crystal Palace have just scored against Leicester, edging them away from trouble a bit more. Well, for now at least.

Roars from the home fans and rightly so. Seamus Coleman is high up the pitch to receive a pass and he sets on a run only for Colin Quaner to slide in and hook the ball for a throw just as Coleman was building steam.

The crowd loved that and it was great work ethic.

Nikola Vlasic looks for a cross-field pass which cannons into Jonathan Hogg. Vlasic claims handball and gets his ear bent by Hogg for the appeal.

Huddersfield in charge of the tempo so far. Everton very much feeling their way into things without coming under any serious pressure.

The home fans - aided by a drum - have not yet stopped singing.

Michael Keane is sloppy at the back for Everton but his poor pass into midfield isn't capitalised upon.

Not much in the way of threat from either side but maybe we should expect that. A look at their recent form shows they typically only score one goal a game, so a glut of action in the area may be a tough ask.

Jonathan Hogg tries a diagonal ball which smacks of good vision but sadly has too much ping on it and it's a goal kick.

Seamus Coleman gets down the right for the away side and a cross deflects behind. He expects a corner but it's a goal kick. A double ricochet according to the linesman. Seamus is not a happy gut.

If you're just joining us, here is how they line up today. Just the one change with Nikola Vlasic preferred to Yannick Bolasie for Everton.

Colin Quaner goes on a powerful run down the right for the home side but he's blocked off in the box and Everton clear.

Here come the players. "Huddersfield, Huddersfield," sing the home faithful.

Sam Allardyce is in his dugout, hands in his coat pocket.

The handshakes run smoothly and off run the sides to their respective ends. The home fans are in noisy mood.
