    Barnsley 1-0 Sheffield United

It's not quite the madness we saw last night, but Barnsley and Sheffield United are getting us off to a very enjoyable start today.

Enda Stevens tries to get the Blades back on terms, only to see a Barnsley defender get in the way of his shot.

Billy Sharp has just the briefest sniff of the rebound before the ball is safely ushered away.

Sheffield United's substitutions have not had the desired effect so far.

Barnsley apply some pressure and almost double their lead, but Simon Moore narrows the angle quickly and saves to deny Kieffer Moore.

Moore - the Blades one - is called into action again moments later, reacting well to stop George Moncur's deflected effort.

    Barnsley 1-0 Sheffield United

Right, forget about that last update.

Sheffield United may not have made any half-time changes, but Chris Wilder waits just five minutes to switch things up after the break, bringing Mark Duffy on for David Brooks.

    Barnsley 1-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United have not made any more changes at half-time, having already introduced striker Billy Sharp before the break.

The Blades have had the first effort of the second 45 minutes, full-back George Baldock striking harmlessly over the bar.

  6. 'No penetration from Villa'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 1-0 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC WM 95.6

It was a great effort from Josh Murphy but Neil Taylor has got to get closer to him and close him down.

There's been no penetration from Villa, they need to up their game, it's been like a training session.

Steve Bruce is going to have to use all his managerial experience to get a tune out of his players during the break.

  7. KICK-OFFpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

No sooner have they gone off for half-time at Carrow Road, they're back under way at Oakwell.

Barnsley are 45 minutes away from a huge three points.

Lincoln v Shrewsbury (Sunday, 15:00 BST)

Two English Football League sides not in action this afternoon are Lincoln City and Shrewsbury Town, with the pair set to go head to head in tomorrow's EFL Trophy final.

Lincoln, who beat Chelsea's under-21 side in the last four, will be walking out at Wembley Stadium for the first time in their 133-year history.

Shrewsbury will be hoping to end a run of three defeats from three at the national stadium, having overcome Yeovil in the semis.

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 1-0 Aston Villa

It was hardly a classic but Norwich had the upper hand and eventually their pressure told. Villa failed to properly clear their lines and Josh Murphy made them pay with a truly stunning strike.

Josh Murphy's shot was only the third on target in the 45 minutes. The Norwich man has had one of the other ones too.

Villa desperately need to turn things around to keep their automatic promotion hopes on track.

Finally we have a goal in first-half stoppage time and it was well the worth the wait.

An absolute peach of a strike from Josh Murphy, who curls in his 10th goal of the season.

It was 25 yards out and right into the top corner, and as good a goal as you will see all afternoon, I am sure.

    Norwich 0-0 Aston Villa

There's a minute of normal time until the break at Carrow Road.

Villa are having to hold on a bit here. Lots of blocks and half-clearances.

There are simply too many bodies for the home side to create a chance.

  13. 'Save Terry for Cardiff'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 0-0 Aston Villa

    Garry Thompson
Ex-Aston Villa striker on BBC WM 95.6

If John Terry's knock is a bad one, then I would not risk him because Aston Villa can win this game without him.

I would save him for the Cardiff game on Tuesday which will be a physical game.

  14. Postpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 0-0 Aston Villa

John Terry, who was in that Championship team of the season, is still moving a bit gingerly. I expect he will soldier on til half-time and then assess it.

But he was needed there. The off-balance centre-back does superbly well to snuff out the danger with two Norwich attackers closing in on him.

A couple of corners in quick succession for Norwich. Villa are untidily clearing their lines - so far.

  17. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Barnsley 1-0 Sheffield United

Gary Gardner's goal is the only difference between the South Yorkshire rivals at the break.

Barnsley are only two points from safety as it stands.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 7 April 2018

    Norwich 0-0 Aston Villa

Norwich midfielder James Maddison is the first man in the book for bringing down Robert Snodgrass as the Villa man was about to run towards goal. No real arguments with that one.

Patient build-up work by Norwich on the left flank ends with Mario Vrancic spooning an effort over the bar as he slipped. It was an ugly end to a nice passage of play.
