Virgil van Dijk steps in to telegraph a through-ball to Edin Dzeko. Roma have to go for it, Liverpool just have to not implode.
Roma 0-0 Liverpool (2-5 agg)
Based on all the Champions League knockout games this season, I'm surprised nobody has scored in the opening minute, Edin Dzeko heads wide - but he was battling with Virgil van Dijk, it wasn't a chance.

HUGE game for young Trent Alexander-Arnold... Could book his flight to Russia tonight if he has another good game. Has to stay calm and show he has that cool side in one of the most intimidating environment there is

We are under way. A reminder that Roma need to win 3-0 or similar to go through.

You have got to play to your strength.
Liverpool should look to attack or they'll be wasting their talent and their three best players.
The fans sing over the Champions League anthem. TREASON.

The players come out - the Stadio Olimpico is ROCKING.
Gracenote Sports have worked out the likelihood of each team going through.
They say Liverpool are 93% sure - with Roma a 7% shot.
But Roma were only a 2% chance before that Barcelona second leg...

It would have been a great game against Bayern Munich as well. But Real Madrid always find a way and they are used to be in the final.
Let's get through this game first. It is about winning and the way we play and I'm confident we can do it.
The players are all professional and experienced. We will have our own 5,000 supporters but you have to be professional and do the right things. We have a team that's capable of getting the result and scoring goals.

Adesanya Gabriel I: I think the question we should be asking tonight is if that Roma backline can keep out this Liverpool front three. I honestly do not think so
Roy Joseph Harris: I expect Roma to come out the traps fast and hard. I wouldn't be surprised if they went 2-0 up. But Liverpool score goals. Lots of goals. Liverpool's quality will shine and they will go through. 'MON THE 'POOL.
Ed T: The way Liverpool might come unstuck is by getting an early red card - keep your heads boys!
There are some reports that some Liverpool fans have been queuing for hours to get into the ground. Not sure whether they're all in yet.

You think positive, so it is about the five goals we scored. If you can score five against an Italian team, you feel confident you can do it again.
The two goals Liverpool conceded gave them an idea of the fact they have to be wary. Let them first deal with Roma then we can talk about Real Madrid.
Over the two legs Bayern Munich were the better team but Real Madrid always have something special in this competition and seem to get a result from somewhere.

Aaron: Alexander-Arnold should be the poster boy for what happens when youth is given the chance to shine; he isn't perfect but at 18 years old, his contributions have been vital and now he's on the cusp of a UCL final with LFC. Standout player for me.
Mohamed Salah is only four goals off Ian Rush's record for most goals in a Liverpool season.
They have three games left, including today - four if they reach the final.

If I was a Roma player I would be worried tonight because I'd be thinking ‘we cannot concede’. Once that little worm is in there it makes it easier for Liverpool.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reached the Champions League final once before, losing in 2012 with Borussia Dortmund to Bayern Munich.
"I don't think that people are interested in semi-final losers, same as final losers. I could write a book about that, we all know that," said Klopp.
"But the only way to win something is to go the whole way so if this team goes to the final it would be an outstanding - outstanding - achievement already.
"It is not the prize we want then because if you go to a final then of course you have to think a little bit bigger, but it would be something we could not have expected at the start of the season."
