Stoke 1-0 Crystal Palace
Ah. Just as I say that Palace almost score. Andros Townsend is slipped in down the left and smashes a dangerous cross across goal but the winger had already been flagged offside.

There has been very little flow to this second half and that will probably suit Stoke. Peter Crouch continues to give free-kicks away as the ball is smashed up to him but it's not allowing Palace to build up any momentum.

A few of you are asking how West Brom are relegated if Stoke go on to win this one.
It's because Swansea still have both Southampton and Stoke to play.
That means if Stoke win today one of Stoke, Swansea or Southampton have to get to 35 points and West Brom's maximum is 34.

Palace won't change too much. It really depends on Stoke's attitude. Do they hold on to their lead or do they play positively and chase that second goal. Players can sometimes be caught between the two. I think they will start positive, but the longer it stays 1-0, the more nervous the players and the fans will get.

Erik Pieters take a bow. James McArthur plays a lovely through ball and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is in behind on the right-centre of the penalty area but the left-back comes out of nowhere and slides across to stop the Englishman in his tracks.
The ball event bounces back of Loftus-Cheek for a Stoke goal kick. Kurt Zouma is now down injured for the hosts though.

There's a hush around the Potteries at the start of the second half for what feels like the first time in the match. The nerves probably only increase for Stoke now that they have something to hang on to.

Stoke get the second half under way. The biggest 45 minutes Stoke have had for a long time.

The Stoke players are back out nice and early after half-time. It'll have been an interesting team talk for both managers. Palace were probably the better team but Stoke are doing what they have to do.
If they win 1-0 it'll be seen as the perfect battling performance.

He doesn't score tap-ins does he?
Only Philppe Coutinho and Kevin De Bruyne have more Premier League goals from outside the box since 2015-16 than Xherdan Shaqiri's 10.
So as it stands West Brom are relegated from the Premier League.
Stoke are currently up to 18th on 33 points, above Southampton by one point.
Paul Lambert's side are level on points with 17th-placed Swansea but have a seven-goal inferior goal difference.

It has been an even game and Stoke have got the breakthrough. It didn't look likely but they grew into the game. Palace started comfortably but halfway through, Stoke got width and they got crosses into the box. It was one of those quality moments and Shaqiri has delivered.

Crystal Palace looked the more composed side for most of that first half as Stoke City's nerves and anxiety were only to evident in players, fans and manager Paul Lambert.
It is The Potters, however, who lead and a huge roar went up as the half-time whistle sounded.

Scott: What a goal from Shaquiri, smack bang when Stoke needed it.

For the most part that was pretty ugly but Stoke are in front due to a moment of brilliance.
They're halfway there.

Badou Ndiaye has made a remarkable recovery and is now charging around in midfield. He forces the error from Palace and the Stoke supporters are now on their feet encouraging their team, willing them to see this through to the break.
Stoke 1-0 Crystal Palace
Palace come forward but Badou Ndiaye is down clutching his ankle and the home fans desperately want to ball kicked out so he can receive treatment. Palace play on for few seconds but eventually kick it out. That might stop any momentum the visitors can gain in these closing moments.
Stoke 1-0 Crystal Palace
What a massive, massive goal for Stoke. They now have four minutes of added time to hang on to take this lead into the break.

Stoke did what they have to and got a cross into the box before winning a free-kick in a perfect position. He has hit the target with quality and class. I have never seen him run so fast in the celebration and it's a huge goal.
Xherdan Shaqiri
He's done it! A beauty from Xherdan Shaqiri.
After winning the free-kick himself, Shaqiri steps up and bends the ball into the top right corner from 25 yards. The replays show it actually got a slight nick on the way through off Loftus-Cheek in the wall but it was a good effort anyway.
Shaqiri runs away and leaps into the arms of manager Paul Lambert. The bet365 Stadium erupts.
Stoke 0-0 Crystal Palace
If Stoke are going to get a result today you feel it'll have to come from Xherdan Shaqiri. He pings a beauty of a crossfield ball to Moritz Bauer and then gets the ball back before being hauled down on the edge of the box.
The Swiss is going to take the resulting free-kick himself. The stadium falls silent in anticipation...
