Stoke manager Paul Lambert: "It's all or nothing. It's a massive game for everybody connected with the football club, and we have to win, no matter what. There's no focus on anything else other than trying to win the game."

Palace know they are safe and if there is any sort of drop-off in their performance, it will make a massive difference.

Stoke have not exactly been free-flowing going forward but this is their last home game of the season and they will throw everything at the Eagles.

  3. 'Goals could cost Stoke'published at 10:50 British Summer Time 5 May 2018

Stoke v Crystal Palace (12:30 BST)

    Steve Bower
    Match of the Day commentator

After 12 games without a victory, Stoke know they have to win their two remaining games and hope it's enough to defy the odds.

Three consecutive draws have given them outside hope, although speaking to Paul Lambert after their draw at Liverpool that point has injected belief.

There's been no lack of effort, determination or organisation - it's a dearth of goals that could cost them.

Palace didn't have a goal or a point seven games into the season. Roy Hodgson has done a remarkable job.

The Potters will pray Palace's pedal might not be quite at full throttle and they can take their fight to the final day.

Manic Dave: Sean Dyche followed closely by Rafa. Dyche for overachieving. All season pundits and likewise have said Newcastle have a Championship side.

Stuart Smith: Not sure how Dyche can be considered underrated as I've heard nothing but acclaim for him all season. Until recently, Puel was completely under the radar at Leicester getting good results. Benitez has also done very well with a poor side going unappreciated.

MWGoldsworthy: Sean Dyche. How could it be anyone else?

Stoke's only new absentee for Saturday's game is defender Bruno Martins Indi, who has a groin problem.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Kostas Stafylidis remain out respective groin and rib injuries but Glen Johnson could feature after a groin problem.

Jason Puncheon will return to first-team training on Friday but he and fellow Palace forward Connor Wickham are unlikely to feature this season.

Long-term absentees Scott Dann and Bakary Sako remain out.

There is an eerie feel around Stoke City’s stadium this morning. It is a beautiful day for football, but the fans I have spoken to know even a victory against Crystal Palace might not be enough to save them from the drop this weekend.

It wasn't all celebration on the south coast last night.

After the defeat Jose Mourinho hit out at his Manchester United players like only Jose Mourinho can.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial started in a front three following injuries to top scorer Romelu Lukaku and January signing Alexis Sanchez and failed to impress their boss.

"For 10 months I get asked 'why always Lukaku? Why always Lukaku? Why always this player?'" Mourinho said.

"'That guy doesn't have a chance to start, the other one is on the bench'. You know why now."

    Ouch.

Chris Hughton is rightly getting plenty of praise this morning. He has done a fine job in ensuring Brighton stay up in their first top-flight campaign since 1983.

But who is this season's best, underrated manager?

Is it Hughton? Sean Dyche has obviously done an exceptional job. What about Rafael Benitez who has led Newcastle into the top half on a limited budget? Or Roy Hodgson? Crystal Palace hadn't won a point or scored a goal when he took over remember.

    • West Brom will be relegated if they fail to beat Tottenham. They will even be relegated without kicking a ball if Stoke win the early kick-off and will also be down if Swansea avoid defeat or Southampton win.
    • Stoke will be relegated if they lose to Crystal Palace. If the Potters draw, they’re down if Swansea avoid defeat or Southampton win. Even if Stoke win, they’re down in the unlikely event that Southampton, Swansea, Huddersfield (who don’t play until Sunday) and West Ham all win.
    • Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Watford will be mathematically safe if they win today.

Bottom six of the Premier League

This is the situation at the bottom.

Despite their recent improvements, West Brom still need a miracle to stay up with two games left and could be relegated today.

Stoke could be down today too. They desperately need a win in today's early kick-off and even if they get three points the Potters could still be relegated this weekend.

If results go their way, Southampton could move out of the relegation zone in the late kick-off while Swansea are at Bournemouth in another monster game at the bottom.

It's a little confusing but here are the full permutations...

Hello! Welcome along to our coverage of the penultimate weekend of the Premier League season.

There are six matches today and the focus is on those at the bottom.

Two teams could be relegated, three others can make themselves mathematically safe and those in between can ensure their final week is a relatively calm one or is one packed with the tension of any good box set.

It's has been 267 since the Premier League season began with 20 teams full of optimism.

Those outside the top six were hoping for a comfortable season - to avoid relegation by April, to finish mid-table, to push for the Europa League or maybe even 'do a Leicester'.

But now all focus is on survival.

The next nine days will decide who beats the drop.
