Joel Ward hasn't been able to shake off that knock from earlier. He's limped on for 15 minutes or so but now Martin Kelly is being summoned by Roy Hodgson. He replaces his team-mate at right-back.

  3. 'Loftus-Cheek showing his quality'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 5 May 2018

Ruben Loftus-Cheek is showing his quality in the midfield. He is consistently feeding Zaha and Townsend ahead of him and Palace have bags of pace in attack.

Yohan Cabaye blasts one over for Palace. Roy Hodgson's side have been the better team, particularly when they have space to break in to, but neither team has had a shot on target yet.

Huge ironic cheers now come from the home fans after Martin Atkinson gives a free-kick in Stoke's favour. I think the ref has got things pretty much spot on so far.

Long ball, header, pass, foul has been the pattern of this game so far. Paul Lambert is incensed again as another decision goes against him.

Now Glen Johnson eases Wilfried Zaha off the ball and the Ivory Coast international wants a free-kick there's nothing doing there.

A big intake of breath around the bet365 Stadium. Palace race forward with Wilfried Zaha on the ball and he and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are two-on-two with the Stoke defence. Zaha commits his man but just over hits the pass into Loftus-Cheek.

Palace scramble a couple of corners but Stoke eventually clear.

Ooooooof. That's gotta hurt. James McArthur clears the ball out in a tackle but follows through in his kick and catches Erik Pieters on the knee with his studs.

This game has gone very stop-start with a few injuries. It has at least given Paul Lambert time to have a gulp of water.

If you've got Peter Crouch in your team you may as well play to his strengths and that is definitely Paul Lambert's game plan. Moritz Bauer puts in a high, inswinging cross to the back post where Crouch is lurking but he clashes with Palace 'keeper Wayne Hennessey and the decision goes the way of the visitors.

Palace's Joel Ward is now down with an injury.

  9. 'Stoke need more width'published at 12:54 British Summer Time 5 May 2018

The way to beat this Palace team is not through the middle with long balls, it's by going around them. But they aren't doing that. Erik Pieters and Glen Johnson haven't got forward and they need more width.

    Chance.

For the first time Stoke create something in this frantic atmosphere as Joe Allen plays in Xherdan Shaqiri down the right. The Swiss crosses with his right towards the penalty spot where Mame Biram Diouf heads tamely wide. Not easy but you'd like him to hit the target from there.

I have to say I would fancy Stoke’s chances more if Paul Lambert was on the pitch. He has been effervescent inside his technical area. He is kicking every ball and making every tackle. One or two of his players should try to follow his example.

More signs of a little tension in the Stoke players.

Erik Pieters just whacks the ball straight out of play as he aims again for Peter Crouch but gets nowhere near.

Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has nipped over to the sidelines for some treatment but looks like he's going to continue.

    Stoke 0-0 Crystal Palace

    Phil McNulty

Stoke City's fans and manager Paul Lambert already showing signs of frustration as Crystal Palace look more dangerous going forward - but are also willing to take their time over re-starts just to take the heat out of any early opposition momentum.

Manager Paul Lambert can barely stand still in his technical area and is in running dialogue with the fourth official.

Stoke desperately need some composure. On the pitch and on the touchline.

Stoke haven't settled. They have been all action but have hardly had chance to get their foot on the ball in the Palace half.

    Speak of the devil.

Just as I mention Wilfried Zaha he fires a shot across the face of goal. He has been directly involved in five goals in his last four games. Will he add to that today?

Paul Lambert is getting worked up on the touchline. First a throw-in is awarded against Stoke and then a free-kick. The Scot is hopping around shouting at anyone in earshot.

Palace have probably shown the better touches on the ball so far. Both teams are set up with similar 4-4-2 formations. Stoke have Peter Crouch and Mame Biram Diouf up front and Andros Townsend and Wilfried Zaha are leading the line for Palace.

Zaha was electric last time I live-texted on Palace in their 3-2 win over Brighton a few weeks back.

It is quite a while since I have heard “Delilah” sang with such passion at Stoke City. That was very impressive from the home fans.

You have to wonder if the players can keep this intensity up in this heat. Stoke are charging into tackles and Joe Allen in particular is closing down in midfield ferociously.

There's the first shot. Palace surge forward with their impressive pace in attack and Ruben Loftus-Cheek holds off a defender on the edge of the box before curling narrowly over the top right corner.

Jack Butland didn't move. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt that he knew it was going over.
