  1. 'The final day atmosphere here is always special'published at 17:23 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    FT: Newcastle 3-0 Chelsea

    Newcastle United

Speaking to Sky Sports, Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez said: "When you have the fans behind the team all season, this is the best way to finish. We knew that if we started with a high tempo we could keep the fans behind the team. With good spells and bad spells through the season we are happy to finish 10th."

Asked about the atmosphere at St James' Park, Benitez said: "The final day here is always special because of the atmosphere the fans produce. From day one they were pleased with our work. We can enjoy today but there is still room for improvement. There is another year on my contract and I will try to do my best to move forward."

  2. Dignified ending from Michael Carrickpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

No fuss from Michael Carrick today.

Despite creating the only goal at Old Trafford he said on the pitch afterwards that his performance 'was not the best' and told him it was time to retire.

He thanked the Manchester United fans for a special 12 years and Jose Mourinho for giving him the chance to join his coaching team.

Carrick also wished Sir Alex Ferguson well in his recovery from a brain haemorrage and said he hoped to see the Scot back in the directors box soon.

  3. 'We made a big step this season'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Liverpool 4-0 Brighton

    Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp to Sky Sports: "What the boys did this season was unbelievable. We msised Adam Lallana for the whole year and I can't believe we have achieved this without him.

"I'm really proud of the boys, a nearly perfect season. We had no chance to challenge Man City so the only thing you can go for is a Champions League spot. It is a big thing.

"We had a few more chances today, it's fantastic that Mo Salah could break the record and Dom and Robertson could score. It's hard to be a young player in this fantastic side, Solanke has struggled a bit but he has shown up today. I'm really happy for him.

"When everyone tells you you are fantastic all season it is hard to stay on track so I am pleased with Mo Salah. Congratulations to Man City, it is incredible to get 100 points, Thoroughly deserved. We need more consistency to challenge and a little bit more luck with injuries.

"But we have got a lot of experience from this season. We have matured and we will do that again. In our good moments it is not easy to play better football. We will add to the squad, we need more players but I'm a big believer in developing the team. These boys made a big step."

One man is missing from the start of the celebrations.. David Wagner. The Town manager is ushered down the tunnel by his chairman Dean Hoyle, the decibel-meter combusting as the pair walk out together.

Wagner's name rings round the John Smith's Stadium, probably being heard as far away as Elland Road...

    Huddersfield 0-1 Arsenal

Meanwhile, back on the Huddersfield pitch... barely a single Terriers fan has left the ground. It's party time!

The Huddersfield players, accompanied by their WAGs and children, come out for the traditional end-of-season lap of honour - receiving the sort of reception the Gallagher brothers would get at an Oasis reunion. It's deafening!

  6. '15 games is not enough'published at 17:13 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Swansea 1-2 Stoke

    Stoke City

Stoke City manager Paul Lambert to BBC Sport: "You look at the fanbase that we have behind us, it was good for them. The young kid [Lasse Sorenson] made his debut and he was excellent. There were a lot of good things. The effort and I’ve seen everything I’ve asked for, the lads have given me it.

"Fifteen games is never long enough. There were things wrong, without a doubt. I did what I think is right. We drew games that we should have won. A little bit more quality across the top and we wouldn’t be in this position. Effort, I can’t ask for any more.

"I’m sure the club will know what’s wrong and what is right. With that fanbase behind you, you have a chance.

"There’s a core of players, but there’s a turnaround that needs to happen. It’s a really good core, if they have the right players that want to be at the club. I’m sure the club will learn from what has happened this year."

Mo Salah has been handed at least two more trophies and a box which looked like the sort you get a cake in as the Liverpool players lap Anfield. What a day for him.

    Huddersfield 0-1 Arsenal

With the results we won three Premier League titles, played 49 games unbeaten and I'm very proud to have won seven FA Cups too."

On Arsenal's future: "I see a bright future for my successor because the team has a good attitude and quality. The team needs some additions and if they get them I think they will compete for the Premier League title."

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson: "We've really been safe for a couple of weeks now and were playing an already-relegated side so this could've degenerated to a keep-ball session but you couldn't accuse us of that today.

"I'm really pleased to get the result and finish on a high as it's the third straight win. We've got to be very proud of that.

"It's a day that is tinged with sadness because I'm really sad to see West Brom go down. They are a very good club with fantastic fans. At the start of the season I couldn't dream that West Brom would be one of the teams to go down.

"Our success is to their detriment to some extent, I spare a thought for them and their players, especially the ones I worked with.

"We've worked hard to get this team playing this way so it would be shame to see that go out of the window. I'm hoping we get reinforcements but it will be exciting to keep the bulk of this team together and add in areas, and to make certain if we lose players to replace them.

"I undertstand people coveting our players like Wilfried Zaha but he loves playing for the club, he's a Croydon boy and I don't think he's going to jump at the first opportunity."

  11. Wenger 'sad' as Gunners reign endspublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 13 May 2018

    Huddersfield 0-1 Arsenal

Legendary manager Arsene Wenger on leaving Arsenal after 22 years in charge: "Of course it is very emotional after 1,235 games for the same club. To enjoy it we had to win it, winning football games is what makes me happy and the boys did it. It was a good day for everyone with Huddersfield staying up too.

"Do I feel relief? Not really, I'm sad. At some stage it has to end, I wish everyone well, the fans have been great until the end and I wish the club well for the future."

On adapting to life after Arsenal: "It will be hard to adjust of course but I will have to deal with that. I want to wish this group of players well and the staff coming in, I will remain an Arsenal fan above everything else."

"He has been monumental for the club and leaves it in a much, much better place than when he took over. He has won many games, many trophies and gone through a season unbeaten. He is a legend in this league.

"It will be strange not seeing him around in pre-season but change happens. I am sure whoever comes in, this club is in a fantastic place for them to put their stamp on it. Arsene has created a fantastic team here that is capable of going on with a few tweaks."

Ben: Man City being the first side to reach 100 points in a top flight season is even more remarkable given some sides played 42 games in a season.
