Eriksen... not this time. The ball drops to him on the edge of the box but he can only shoot off target. He was the man the Danish fans wanted to see the ball fall to, but no joy.

Ray O'Brien: Some of these Aussie crosses are crying out for a Timmy Cahill to be on the end of them.

Anon: What's the point in taking Cahill to the World Cup if you're not going to use him.

A rush of blood to the head of Thomas Delaney. The Dane is free on the left-hand side of the penalty area but lashes it far too hard across the box.

Straight down the other end Australia go with two chances in quick succession but Kasper Schmeichel saved both - one from Daniel Arzani and one from Mathew Leckie.

It has lacked quality at times, at both ends of the field, and it has lacked any real piece of genius - Eriksen is the only one really out there that you expect that from, but certainly it has been entertaining with lots of efforts on goal.

You wonder who will be happier accepting a draw at the end of this game - Denmark would have four points knowing they have France still to play while Australia will have one point and face Peru. It would really hinge on the later game between France and Peru.

Cardiff signed him for £7.5m in July 2013, he failed to start a single game in the Premier League with no goals in his eight sub appearances before he was sent back to Denmark.

Mile Jedinak and Aaron Mooy have just dropped so deep that there's no space in between their midfield and defence.

In the first half Eriksen was in between the lines and causing real problems but Australia have done really well since then.
