David Mason: That’s a tricky one...close range but his arm has stopped a potentially goal-bound header. Clear and obvious?

Soren Nielsen: How can anyone defend VAR after that. What a scandal.

Thor Jensen: The FIFA VAR Cup is a a joke. Endless penalties in every game. All my money on VAR deciding the final.

VAR. It is the debate that has no signs of slowing down...

  2. Suspension for Poulsenpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Denmark 1-1 Australia

By the way, Yussuf Poulsen was booked in that Australia penalty incident and that is his second booking of the tournament, meaning he will miss the game against France next Tuesday.

He is also the first player to concede two penalties in a single World Cup since Milan Dudic in 2006 for Serbia after also conceding against Peru, when Christian Cueva skied his spot-kick well over the top.

    Denmark 1-1 Australia

Denmark looked like running away with this match with Christian Eriksen's goal after only seven minutes, but all credit to Australia they have fought back and done it well.

    Half time, good game.

Even with the technology, the jury seems split on the penalty decison...

David Millar: That's an awful decision, you need to raise your hands to jump to win a ball, can't just pencil jump your way through the World Cup.

Jack Strawberry: That is NEVER a penalty. Where is the defender supposed to put his arms?! TraVARsty.

Another appeal for a penalty, again for Australia. Trent Salisbury is the man appealing. Not this time. He wanted a foul to be given after a collision with Danish captain Simon Kjaer.

None of the officials on the pitch, nor in the VAR room are too interested.

Gary Gallagher: That was definitely a penalty, the hand was up, VAR - good call.

Jonathan: And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why FIFA have brought in VAR...

Matthew McCready: Really loving the FIFA Penalty Cup so far this year

Trent Sainsbury's heartbeat just sped up as the ball bounces off his knee towards his own goal. Luckily Mat Ryan is down quickly to stop the ball on the line.

    Denmark 1-1 Australia

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a great penalty, under such pressure to score for his team.

Kasper Schmeichel was shouting at him, trying to get in his head, but Mile Jedinak didn't listen and placed it into the right-hand corner.

It's been good at both ends of the field and Australia are now on the front foot.

GOAL - Denmark 1-1 Australiapublished at 38 mins

    Mile Jedinak (penalty)

He scored against France and Jedinak scores another penalty as Kasper Schmeichel finally concedes a goal. Schmeichel dives the wrong way as Jedinak rolls it into the bottom right corner. And we're level.

  13. PENALTY for Australiapublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Denmark 1-0 Australia

The appeals had been quite half-hearted, play went down the other end and then referee Antonio Mateu Lahoz checks the footage and gives the spot-kick.

Leckie's header had hit Yussuf Poulsen's hand, and the arm was raised. Jedinak to take it.

  18. 'Much better from Australia'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 21 June 2018

    Denmark 1-0 Australia

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

For a team that was so well organised against France, the Danish have been cutting Australia open at will.

Australia slowed the game down and this is much better now from the Australians. They're keeping the ball better in the Danish half and are a threat from the wider areas.

Australia keep getting close to the Denmark penalty box, with Mathew Leckie, looking particularly lively but the final ball into the box too often finds a Danish head.
