Switzerland 1-1 Costa Rica

It's still Brazil 2-0 Serbia in Moscow. My fancy for Serbia tonight was utter dross. Costa Rica put one into the box and Rodeny Wallace decides to headbbutt Stephan Lichtsteiner in the back. The defender is absolutely fuming. That was late but he will get away with it.

A reminder, Brazil will play Mexico, Switzerland will meet Sweden. That is of course unless we get a huge swing in these closing moments.

Campbell is really impressing me. How on earth has this lad not settled anywhere in his club career? Aged 25, someone could surely make something of him?

Xherdan Shaqiri is going off. That's probably sensible as he has been on the end off the odd stray boot.

Drmic rises to head a Breel Embolo cross and it cannons back off the post. Goalkeeper Keylor Navas kind of slumped as if to wave it goodbye.

Minimal movement from Switzerland in the final third right now. A lot of sideways, low risk passes until a ball is put in the box, allowing Breel Embolo to head down and the side in white to boot clear.

Bryan Oviedo leaves a bit on Xherdan Shaqiri and the Stoke man wants the full-back booked. That was late and needless on the halfway line. Oviedo tries to tell him he made it look bad but Shaqiri does not want to know.

Cristian Gamboa sets off down the right flank like an All Black closing in on the try line and only a Denis Zakaria foul stops him. That's a yellow son.

A look at the average positions players have taken up points to a well organised Swiss side.

Look at the shape below. Deep midfielders, full-backs pushed on a touch and generally a nice compact shape.

They look like they will cruise home here and are not taking any risks, with a long bout of possession currently playing out until Bryan Oviedo heads back to his keeper.

Brazil's lead over Serbia has doubled thanks to a header from Thiago Silva. They have all but sealed their passage to the next round as group leaders.

Switzerland would have to score at least another three goals, as well as claim victory to take back the top spot. They are still going through as runners-up though.

Brazil have doubled their lead over Serbia - who I actually fancied to spring an upset tonight.

Costa Rica swing a corner in and it bounces in the six-yard box but evades absolutely everybody.

Bryan Oviedo gets into the POMO as they call it - the Position of Maximum Opportunity behind the full-back. His cross is cut out though and again Switzerland do enough. That's about all they are doing though, enough and no more.

I fear Switzerland are about to shut up shop. Minimal ambition shown in this last 10 minutes.

Jord: Crazy how Costa Rica finished top in the group in 2014, with arguably a harder set of matches, but this year they've finished bottom.

Celso Borges is cheeky enough to shoot from 40 yards. Now that Yann Sommer has been beaten he perhaps senses vulnerability. He will have to be better than that. Well over.

Brazil remain top of the group but more importantly, that goal from Costa Rica does little to effect Switzerland's qualifying position.

As long as Brazil are leading in their game with Serbia (still 1-0), Switzerland are going through.

Not for the first time, Costa Rica are neat, tidy and then rash when it matters. Joel Campbell digs out a cross, Daniel Colindres heads down and Bryan Oviedo can't get over the ball so fires it high over the bar. A touch more care needed.
