Mexico don't have a choice today - they had to play their best team. Even though they've played so well in their first two games - they're still in danger of not going through.

The Mexico travelling support is superb - they give the magical people of Peru a real run for their money.

This is a sensational tale from BBC Monitoring.

A Mexican fan has made the headlines after being pictured with a cardboard cut-out of himself in Russia.

His girlfriend originally prevented him from travelling to the World Cup so his friends, who went along without him in any case, took a life-sized cardboard version of him instead.

However, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, external reports that Mexico’s form has forced him to reassess his priorities, and he has now arrived in Russia, where he now attends matches with his cardboard doppleganger.

There is no word on whether the relationship is still ongoing.

Sweden manager Janne Anderson: "We showed that we can match the reigning champions almost all the way to the end and that strengthens the self-confidence.

"We will go into the match [against Mexico] with a strong belief that we again can make a top performance. Mentally we are very, very strong and with a belief in what we do."

But in all seriousness - if Sweden and Germany win 1-0 then Germany, Sweden and Mexico would all have the same points, same goal difference and have scored exactly the same number of goals.

That would mean the group would be decided by a three-way mini league incorporating the results between those three teams.

Mexico would go out on goals scored in the games between themselves, Germany and Sweden.

    All clear?

  16. Chicharito on brink of recordpublished at 14:16 British Summer Time 27 June 2018

    Mexico v Sweden (15:00 BST)

Mexico striker Javier Hernandez scored his 50th international goal in their 2-1 victory over South Korea.

The strike took him level with Luis Hernandez as Mexico's leading goalscorer.

"It meant only three points, and it wasn’t even enough to secure our ticket," Chicharito said.

"It was good to achieve the record but also because it was a distraction, now I can focus on the most important thing: helping the team reach the round of 16."

Does it ever rain in Russia? This World Cup just seems to have been played in non-stop sunshine.

This game is being played in Ekaterinburg, the ground with the funny stand that I'm sure you've all seen a picture of by now.

Those at the top better have sun cream on today.

The phrase of the afternoon in Ekaterinburg is: Can I try on your sombrero?

This city is full of smiles for the Mexican fans who always seem to bring so much colour and life on their travels.

They're all in very optimistic mood, and who can blame them after the two matches we've seen already?

While those in green are letting themselves dream, a considerably more modest Swedish presence will be feeling very nervy indeed after Toni Kroos' cruel curler took their fate out of their hands.

Juan Carlos Osorio names an unchanged side to the one that beat South Korea last time out. That means West Ham stiriker Javier Hernandez starts up top and one of the stars of the tournament so far, Hirving Lozano, starts on the left.

Janne Anderson has also named an unchanged team. That means Ola Toivonen - who netted against Germany - starts alongside strike-partner Marcus Berg. Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof retains his place in the heart of defence, having missed the opening game through illness.
