It was a little bit too far out for Neymar and his curling effort goes over the bar, not testing Guillermo Ochoa.

Philippe Coutinho is given far too much space on the edge of the box. He is practically invited to shoot, so he does, but it doesn't get through the wall of Mexico's defenders. Neymar is then brought down unceremoniously and Brazil have a free-kick in a nice area.

Briyan: So far Coutinho is the star man for Brazil. Neymar is just here modelling and doing tricks for the camera
Simon: Impressive first 30mins for Mexico, clearly not troubled by the reputation of their opponents
Roshimon: Brazil look far more exciting and creative going forward. Exactly what sides like Germany & Spain lacked this

Juan Carlos Osorio has spent much of this game squatted down on his haunches by the very edge of his technical area. Now as Mexico begin to suffer he is up on his feet and shouting instructions.
Not that anyone can hear him - the volume is growing with Brazil.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Remember Neymar, Coutinho, Casemiro and Herrera are all one more booking away from missing the quarter-finals.

Brazil are just going through the gears now. They are getting shots on goal and the Mexico goalkeeper is being forced into saves.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
I take it back! Philippe Coutinho drives into the box and lays it off to Gabriel Jesus. The Manchester City forward dances away from several tackles before unleashing a dangerous strike.
It's palmed away by the Mexico keeper but that was a testing attack from Brazil.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
If you've got Brazil in your sweep stake, I'd be underwhelmed by this start.

Mexico seem to have a lot of quality but need to start taking their chances.

This time Edson Alvarez stops Neymar in his tracks with an excellent sliding tackle.
'You ain't going nowhere!' he probably said to himself.

As Brazil begin to work their way in after a very good Mexico start, I think you would call this delicately poised.
It's a reminder of why World Cup knockout goals are so precious. Neymar is the kind of player who can conjure one from nowhere.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
It's started to open up a little for Brazil now. Neymar has already made an impact. Can they get the ball out to him on the left?
No because Mexico are on the attack. Carlos Vela, who has started well, lashes his strike over the bar after he'd made good ground down the wing.

That is unbelievable skill from Neymar. He had Herrera, Vela and Marquez all trying to mark him but he sold the dummy and went back inside before getting off the shot. That's Neymar.

James: I feel that Mexico will have to make the most of every chance they get. I have a feeling that Brazil will be able to switch gears when they want to
Dave: Brazil are scared of Mexico!
Richard: Let's go Mexico!! They've been my World Cup team for about 12 years. Send the Brazilians packing and march on!
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Mexico can't get the resulting free-kick clear and the ball bounces from defender to defender before it goes out for a goalkick.
Gabriel Jesus was close to nodding it in but it's not quite fallen for him yet.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Neymar's first opportunity to test Edson Alvarez is a good one. He produces a few step-overs then turns him inside but the angle is too tight for him to beat the keeper.
It comes back out to Gabriel Jesus but he can't muster any space before Philippe Coutinho wins a free-kick on the left.
