Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Mexico are very much targetting the wings, while Brazil are mainly going right or central. Missing Marcelo down the left?

Five-time champions? Mexico don't care. They're the better team at the moment.

Brazil are not going to have it their own way today. They are going to have to be prepared to find another way to attack Mexico.
Mexico are on top and I don't know how they are playing at this tempo in the heat.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Brazil are having around 60% of the possession, but as this heat map shows, most of it is in their own half and virtually nothing in the Mexico penalty area.
In fact, it took 21 minutes for Brazil to have a touch inside the Mexico penalty area.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
There's so much space in midfield. Both teams are pushing forward in numbers but getting back into position to defend quickly.
Carlos Vela takes advantage of the space, stepping inside onto his right before setting up Hector Herrera. His shot is blocked by Felipe Luis.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Don't worry Barry, this game already feels better and we've not had a goal yet.

Just bumped into football commentating legend Barry Davies at Wimbledon, looking resplendent in a light blue jacket.
"Enjoying the World Cup so far, Barry?"
"Yes, but if there are any more games like the one on Sunday night (Croatia v Denmark)... it wasn't good was it?"
Barry, it certainly wasn't.

One of the biggest cheers so far came when Willian crashed into Rafael Marquez as the Mexico captain stopped a tricky run - only eclipsed by the roar as Hirving Lozano's low cross just zipped past Javier Hernandez at the far post.
Mexico are easily having the better of this - but still no goal.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Hector Herrera puts Paulinho under pressure and forces him to hoof the ball out for a throw-in.
Brazil win possession back quickly though, and they look to break forward with pace but it's that man Rafael Marquez who is picking up the pieces.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
We were keeping an eye on the average positions to see where veteran Rafael Marquez ended up playing...and like the majority of his Mexico teammates...it is further forward than we anticipated.
He's number four.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Hirving Lozano's first touch is sublime. He cushions the ball down on the right and turns Felipe Luis inside out before firing a cross over towards the back post.
Javier Hernandez is inches away from connecting but he can't quite get there. Mexico are looking good.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Brazil striker Gabriel Jesus has only had one touch so far - in his six-yard box - which gives him the rare distinction of being further back than his goalkeeper in the average positions graphic.

Rob: As a neutral I'm hoping for an entertaining game with goals. And Mexico to win.
Jodmos: 2 on 2 and Mexico don't cross. They need to take those chances.
Andrew: The only prediction I'll make for Brazil v Mexico is that, at some point, Neymar will go down. Holding his face.

Mexico have used the ball well in good areas. Carlos Vela has had a couple of opportunities to cross the ball into the box and they are making Brazil track back and defend.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Carlos Vela plays another excellent, whipping ball into the box. He saw the run of Hector Herrera and almost picked him out, were it not for Thiago Silva.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Willian turns on the turbo boots and charges inside, coming off the right wing as he does so often, but it's taken off him in midfield.
Mexico get the ball forward quickly but Brazil are equally as quick to get back and into position to prevent a counter attack.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Carlos Vela has started confidentially. He drives at Thiago Silva, testing his pace, before firing a low cross into the box which is cut out for a corner.
Javier Hernandez is sniffing around in the box on the resulting corner but he's offside as he charges towards Alisson with a fairly high boot.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
So far Mexico don't look fazed. They're passing the ball around and trying to bypass Brazil's midfield.
A few wayward passes are halting their progress but this is encouraging.

Going on the green to yellow ratio in here I would have guessed this crowd was majority Brazil, but the Mexico fans are really making themselves heard.
Big jeers for Neymar especially.
Brazil 0-0 Mexico
Hugo Ayala uses his strength well to shield the ball out for a goalkick as Philippe Coutinho hounds him from behind.
Brazil quickly get it forward again but Neymar's shot is comfortably palmed away by Guillermo Ochoa.
