    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

Russia could beat either of these in the last eight. This has been deeply disappointing.

I should clarify, after a few comments on twitter, that sides can make a fourth sub during extra time.

Twelve minutes to penalties. You've got time for one more brew.

Sisto is the man-of-the-match. He has been on for two minutes and totally livened the game up. He is willing to run at players and ask questions.

Yes Pione Sisto! Why was he on the bench for so long? He runs at his man, beats him with ease and then curls wide from the corner of the area.

Give that man the ball! Croatia replace Mario Mandzukic with Milan Badelj.

Come on now Croatia. Let's see what you've got. Instead it's that man Pione Sisto who skins his man and plays a good ball forward. A murmur of appreciation.

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

Away we go again. Denmark have brought on Pione Sisto. Thighs like what, what, what.

  8. 'Denmark showing more attacking endeavour'published at 21:15 British Summer Time 1 July 2018

    Croatia 1-1 Denmark

    Terry Butcher
Ex-England captain on BBC Radio 5 live

Eriksen has done nothing and Modric has faded out of the game. Neither side wants to gamble but Denmark are showing more attacking endeavour.

  9. Postpublished at 21:14 British Summer Time 1 July 2018

Luka Modric looked totally spent as he had the ball at the end of that first period.

Kasper Schmeichel celebrated the whistle like a goal. He ran to his team-mates to pump them up. He knows the Danes are close to winning this. They certainly look more likely.

The Danes’ two previous shoot-outs at major tournaments came in the European Championship; they were beaten 5-4 by Spain in the semi-finals in 1984, with Preben Elkjaer the only man to miss. They made amends in the semi-finals in 1992, beating the Dutch 5-4.

Croatia have never faced a penalty shoot-out in a World Cup finals. Their only major shoot-out came in the European Championships where they lost to Turkey, with Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Mladen Petric all failing to convert from the spot. Dario Srna is the only Croat to score in a penalty shoot-out at a major tournament.

This is like watching Championship football, only without the skill and passion. Croatia are particularly shocking!

We are 15 minutes away from penalties. At this stage, as a neutral you're basicaly owed a shootout.

Shaun: Denmark should have had a penalty back then. If a player stays on his feet and doesn't get a shot away it should be brought back.

Harry: How many times do this Croatia team want to flatter to deceive? Remember euro 2016!? We all raved about them. Then in knockouts they do this

Lee: Denmark are certainly looking the most likely at the moment only their finishing is letting them down!

Kasper Schmeichel has to make a save as Ante Revic miscues a cross, that was going to drop in though...

Well played lino! One of my pet hates is when a linesman just lets a ball go by when they could stop it. This guy goes one step further, playing a lovely weighted pass to Kasper Schmeichel so he can take a free-kick.

    My highlight of the game.

Utter domination from Denmark who are the better side in this game. Croatia have been totally disjointed but that doesn't mean they can't still win the game.

Denmark are well on top. If they don't win this tonight they'll be kicking themselves all the way back to Copenhagen. Lasse Schone has made a difference and he squeezes a shot off but it's wide. The Danes introdice Michael Krohn-Dehli, who I recall scoring at a tournament in the past. Nutmegged a keeper?

Croatia have put in a baffling show. This is the team that destroyed Argentina. They look like a real second-rate side tonight.
