    Sweden v England (15:00 BST)

England manager Gareth Southgate, speaking on BBC One: "We have been really grateful for the energy and support we are getting from home. We have to focus on the job at hand with a tough opponent. We know the strengths they have but also where we can hurt them.

"There will be long periods where we can control it but it is about breaking down their packed defence and defending the set-pieces, long balls and counter-attacks well."

Asked about the difference of playing in these big games or managing them? "I am enjoying this a lot more. We are having a fantastic experience and have a lot of improvement to make - defending better and making more chances. We have to focus on how we want to play. They are well recovered form the other night and know the opportunity they have.

"Over this period lots of leaders have emerged both in and out of the starting XI. A lot has been made of how together Sweden are but our group are very together and we hope we can bring our quality as well."

When you play tournament football with England, you see each other everyday and it's non-stop. It's a long time together and you bond really well. We had a great squad in 1990, it was incredibly special, and this squad will be the same.

I'll be watching the game as a proud Englishman in Wales, with my Portuguese wife backing our boys too. Despite the odd keyboard warrior online the vast majority of Wales is behind England too.

World Cup 2018: Sweden's Marcus Berg slices first chance wide against Switzerland

Marcus Berg is a focal point for the Sweden team. He has not scored yet but he's had numerous chances - and big chances as well.

Sweden look to Berg to him to bring others into the game. They do create chances and hit you on the break. We can't afford to allow Sweden to have those chances because you just feel one of them has to go in.

I expect us to have a lot of possession - what concerns me is where we have it. We didn’t work the back four enough against Colombia. We have to tire Sweden so we have the energy.

I don’t blame Gareth Southgate sticking with the same team. I think Raheem Sterling has struggled with his central position. I’d like to see him switch with Dele Alli or Jesse Lingard at times.

Sweden have three clean sheets in four games. They are a compact unit, they live and die by it. Everyone knows their job, one goes and they all go. They hunt in packs. They set traps and they win it. Once they win it, they go straight at the heart of their opposition. They always end up having a shot even if they don’t score.

They enjoy the element of defending.

Victor Lindelof has been immense in this tournament. He didn’t see to have the confidence in a Man Utd shirt as he does in a Swedish shirt.

Paul: Very surprised England are starting Dele Alli - he simply does not appear 100% fit. I would have given Rashford the start in his place.

Daniel: Am I nervous? Yes. Am I anxious? Yes. Could this be the biggest night I can remember for England so far in my life (I'm 30)? Yes.

Brian: Gareth Southgate - the whole of England is behind you! Let’s do this!

Sweden have got a team. They're still transitioning from the Zlatan era. Now it’s all about team spirit and compactness.

Emil Forsberg is the one player who does stand out. He’s probably one of the top five players in the Bundesliga. He’s trying to be the next star player of this Swedish team. He’s both-footed, very clean, technically gifted. He can finish things off too. England have to always have an eye on him – he can create something from nothing.

  20. 'Sweden have performed against better teams than England'published at 14:21 British Summer Time 7 July 2018

    Sweden v England (15:00 BST)

    Noa Bachner
    Swedish journalist

Many of these Sweden players used to shrink when they put on the shirt, but Janne Andersson has brought a psychological edge and he has got rid of the blame culture.

We have seen this team perform against better opposition than England, and they can just stick to a task, so we have no reason to believe they will not do the same today.
