David: So many people (especially pundits) repeatedly refer to past World Cups and England's performances. It does beg the question; what has that record got to do with this set of players and this manager?

Andrew: I’ve had ‘It’s Coming Home’ and ‘Vindaloo’ playing on repeat all morning. Safe to say I’m suitably hyped and prepared for this afternoon’s game

Gary: Just a little concerned that England are going to be made to look like turnips by the Swedes this afternoon.

Former England defender in Russia on BBC Radio 5 live

I am really interested to see how we shift Sweden's two central defenders today, and I think Raheem Sterling will be massive for England. Sweden will kick off and it will be a long ball, a bit like the old Wimbledon, but we have moved our game on and they haven't. There is nothing to fear and let's show that today.

Inexcusable to book a wedding during a World Cup, IMO. The first thing I said when my now wife eventually broke me into agreeing to get married was 'it has to be in an odd year...'

    Sweden v England (15:00 BST)

How many BILLY bookcases can you fit in a luxury Los Angeles apartment?

David Beckham may be about to find out.

Sweden's record goalscorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has challenged , externalthe ex-England skipper and former team-mate to a wager before Saturday's World Cup quarter-final between the two sides.

"Yo David Beckham," said the former Manchester United striker, who is now playing for Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS.

"If England wins I buy you dinner wherever you want in the world, but if Sweden wins you buy me what ever I want from Ikea. OK?"

Having been called out, Beckham responded with a twist: "If Sweden win, I will personally take you to Ikea and buy you whatever you need for the new mansion in LA.

"But when England win, I want you to come to watch an England game at Wembley, wearing an England shirt and enjoy fish and chips at half time."

Ibrahimovic, 36, was not included in the Sweden squad for the finals in Russia despite saying in April that he would be picked, adding: "A World Cup without me wouldn't be a World Cup."

The two superstars have more than 81m combined followers on Instagram, but who will come out on top?

Sweden had a surprise early wake-up call when a fire alarm went off at their luxury hotel early in the morning.

Hours before the Scandinavian side faced their biggest game since 1994, they were forced to evacuate their rooms at the five-star Lotte Hotel, in central Samara, at around 8am.

One England fan, who is staying at the hotel and asked not to be named, said he saw the players standing outside the along with football fans.

Former England manager supports Sweden - Eriksson

England are benefiting from playing without "enormous pressure" and can go all the way and win the World Cup if they beat Sweden in Saturday's quarter-final, says Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Swede Eriksson guided England to successive World Cup quarter-finals in 2002 and 2006 before resigning.

"Before my time, during my time and a little bit after my time, it was like you had to reach the final," Eriksson told BBC Sport.

    "That has changed."

    Strauss backs England to win

    Jonathan Jurejko
    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

Bumped into former England cricket captain Andrew Strauss on his way to the Royal Box at Wimbledon - he knows a thing or two about leading his nation to glory.

"Obviously I'm here to watch the tennis but it is impossible not to be thinking about the football and we'll be getting loads of updates along the way," he says.

"It's do or die. I think they're in a really great place, they look confident and don't feel or look like they're being weighed down by expectation.

"It's a case of going out there and winning it, and not hoping not to lose it."

So the big question... will they win it? "Yes! I think they will."

It's 12 years since England last played in a World Cup quarter-final.

On 1 July 2006, Twitter had yet to be launched, The Devil Wears Prada had just come out at the cinema and Peter Crouch, Aaron Lennon and Jamie Carragher came off the bench as England lost on penalties to Portugal.
