Dembele is versatile and can play wingback. Key is though where De Bruyne will actually play-immense against Brazil as false 9, why change?

    France XI

There are 13 Premier League players (four for France, nine for Belgium) featured in the starting line-ups of this semi-final.

France make one change after beating Uruguay in the quarter-finals. Juventus' Blaise Matudi, who will have a new team-mate in the shape of Cristiano Ronaldo next season, replaces Corentin Tolisso.

France XI: Lloris; Pavard, Varane, Umtiti, Hernandez; Pogba, Matuidi, Kante; Griezmann, Giroud, Mbappe.

    Belgium XI:

An enforced change for Belgium sees the suspended Thomas Meunier drop out after a booking against Brazil last time out, so Tottenham's Mousa Dembele comes in to the side.

How they shape up and where Kevin de Bruyne is going to play, nobody really knows just yet.

Belgium XI: Courtois; Alderweireld, Kompany, Vertonghen; Dembele, Fellaini, Witsel, Chadli; De Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard.

  3. Can 'golden generation' finish the job?published at 18:40 British Summer Time 10 July 2018

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

Roberto Martinez has proved a point. This is a stage where you show the world you are capable of guiding a team to the last four, he has done it in amazing fashion.

This semi-final is full of quality and we are curious to see if Belgium's 'golden generation' can take it to the end.

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

It is difficult to call. There is so much talent on show. The forward players are frightening. It's phenomenal to see. I just can't wait to see Kylian Mbappe. There's battles everywhere that will come to the fore in this game. We can sit back and relax until tomorrow.

  5. 'Two teams packed with stars'published at 18:36 British Summer Time 10 July 2018

    Alan Shearer
Former Newcastle striker on BBC One

The people at home won't really care who England meet in the final if they get there. They already think it's coming home! France picked Argentina to pieces and Belgium blew Brazil away. Two teams packed with stars going head-to-head for a place in the World Cup final. Should be a cracker!

Jack - nobody knows really. It doesn't say much for the other defensive options in the Belgium squad does it?

I'll be surprised if your template is right for Belgium. It would be a waste to see De Bruyne at left wing back. It's more likely to see Chadli at right back in 4-3-3 system from the personnel picked

    Jack

Giroud is similar to Sterling. Doesn't do much good for himself but is pivotal for the rest of the team to play well

World Cup 2018: Kevin De Bruyne wonder strike puts Belgium 2-0 up against Brazil

Belgium were excellent against Brazil but I am worried that game might have been their performance of this World Cup. They just need to forget that win, as good as it was, and try to start again.

I just think Les Bleus might step things up here. As we have seen before when they have reached this stage of a major tournament, their success has a wider significance and their football team is seen as a symbol of a united France.

I think they will respond here too - and make it to Moscow next Sunday.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

Thierry Henry is Roberto Martinez's assistant at Belgium, and France's record goalscorer. In a way I guess he can't lose tonight.

How will Thierry Henry feel when the French national anthem plays? He saw the role with Belgium as a good opportunity for his coaching career and he will want France to lose tonight. France didn't offer him anything and the option to work for Belgium was too good to turn down.

Wonderful description. I have never seen an eel run, either with, or without, the ball.

Olivier Giroud hasn't had a shot on target all tournament but he definitely makes France a better side doesn't he?

Antoine Griezmann is like an eel when he runs with the ball, he is so quick and slippery. I think France will have too much for Belgium tonight.

Russia 2018 will mark 20 years since the French became world champions for the first and only time. Keen followers of history will suggest they are due a slump after a respectable quarter-final showing in Brazil.

When they won the tournament in 98 and finished runners-up in 06 they then finished winless and bottom of the group at both subsequent World Cups.

I think it is very much down to what happens on the night. If Belgium's stars perform then France will struggle to match them, and their big players will have to play just as well. It is the Belgium golden generation.

Phil: At least this match will finally show how overrated Pogba and Mbappe are.....no I'm not a troll

Kyle: I expect France to have too much for Belgium but this game is all about which team defends the best. We have two potent attacks and two of the best attacks in the competition. Hopefully it will be a high scoring thriller, and an early goal would do wonders for this match
