Teresa: I have England in the sweepstakes with a group of friends, my husband has Croatia...come on England!!!

Steve (big fella): Savona, Italy. Already finished a pre-match bottle of Prosecco. Locked in my hotel room with a second. Infeasibly confident but that comes with being English and desperate.

Teresa: Watching the match in Seychelles 10pm KO, have to be up at 6am to catch flight. Hope it doesn't go into extra time!

A large and vocal following for England in the stands if that rendition of the anthem is anything to go by. They still can't sing it in time...

The Croatian anthem is stirring stuff, cinematic I would say. Some steely-eyed determination on the faces of men who represent Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus. It's their first semi-final since 1998 but they won't be overawed.

If, IF, England are to win through to Sunday's final they are going to have to fight all the way...

Here we go then. The players from Croatia and England are about to emerge for the World Cup semi-final.

Just a few weeks ago could Kieran Trippier, Harry Maguire and Jordan Pickford really believe that they would be here?

As Alan Shearer said last night, these 23 men in white are already assured of coming back heroes.

They could go on to become LEGENDS in the next few days...

All players are different. Some will go into the loo where it’s quiet to focus, others will be having touches on the ball. Now is that lull before the storm but the business starts when you’re out there on the pitch.
