Matthew: I would say I am nervous but taking a leaf out of Pippa Grange's book and reframing to say I'm excited for the opportunity to see England get to a World Cup final. In other news, I cannot focus at work...

Elizabeth Chapman: Nervous and excited. This is a good England team. I am praying football is coming home, but I honestly don't know. Even if we don't get past the semifinals we should all be proud that we got this far. Go England and good luck and we are all behind you!

James Sarek: So excited for tonight. I was 2 when England last made the semi-final! By no means has this been an easy ride, but it's been a joy to watch the team play with confidence, flair and belief. What a great World Cup this has been, and what a great future lies ahead for the squad.

England test captain Joe Root has been talking-up the football team's chances while chatting to Jonathan Agnew on BBC Radio 5 live

    Quote Message

I’m going to watch it at home with the family, I’m sure the boys will be watching it at the hotel. I love any major tournament whenever England are playing, you just get so passionate, whatever sport it is, you are desperate for them to do well. To see how they have gone about it as a group has been phenomenal, really impressive. The togetherness of the whole squad - for a really young side - for a fan watching on, it’s been a remarkable couple of weeks and hopefully it’s not finished yet. It’s coming home!

The atmosphere is building in and around the Luzhniki Stadium - even though it is still only just less than four hours to kick-off in the World Cup semi-final between Croatia and England.

The giant escalators on Moscow's famous Metro system are already well populated with supporters of both countries making their way to the stadium and last minute security details are being given to hundreds of police and staff.

Moscow's weather has even improved after a heavy downpour earlier with the stadium now bathed in sunshine and temperatures ideal.

This is England's biggest game for 28 years with the prize a first World Cup Final since 1966 - and it already feels exactly like that even hours before kick-off.

Tom Williams: I'm running a class on a desert island in Panama. One of the few places in the world without a TV. Luckily I know a little cove that gets intermittent reception, I’ll be watching through text.

Charlie: Going to be in Washington DC. My train gets in about 40 minutes before kick-off. Here’s hoping for no delays!!

  18. Croatia to play 'cat and mouse'?published at 14:21 British Summer Time 11 July 2018

Croatia v England (19:00 BST), BBC Radio 5 live and text commentary online

    BBC Monitoring
    The world through its media

Mixed opinions on whether Raheem Sterling should play for England then, but who will start for Croatia?

There’s lots of speculation in the Croatian press, with Jutarnji List, external newspaper suggesting that coach Zlatko Dalic is using the uncertainty to play “cat and mouse” with England.

“England is an attacking side, they like to go forward, they are quick, but are not as skilful as our players. Croatia is slower, but smarter, and capable of effectively using counter attacks.

“Even though Andrej Kramaric is a quality player that any coach can depend on, the counter-attacking approach could mean that Ivan Perisic could be the preferred option."

Joe Wilkinson: To those saying we should go into the game as underdogs, go back to hiding under your rocks. We are ranked 6 places higher than Croatia in the Fifa rankings and they have had to go through 2 ET and Penalty finishes. They are there for the taking. We will win this game.

Janes, Rastrick: Opened the dishwasher this morning and my England pint glass (bought for my birthday on day of Panama game) smashed. This is all I need! #nervous

Luke Parsons: Sterling's been awful in my opinion, but I reckon today he's gonna pop up with a goal. All part of the plan.
